Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Ultimately, where are we?

There are tons of posts describing all sorts of rumors earlier on the page, but now, where are we?

For example, we have serious rumors of buyouts. Some of these rumors involve only CoreTech or Cybersecurity. Others involve all of GED. Some rumors are Dell, Microsoft, and most recently, SoftBank.

There was absolutely going to be a spin-off/sale of CoreTech. Is this still happening?

There was absolutely going to be a spin-off/sale of Cybersecurity. Is this still happening?

Does anyone have knowledge of a total GED sale, or a breakup?

We know that Predix people in Boston are gone, but the Predix team in San Ramon is still there. Anyone from Predix out there?

Miami and Providence are among Strategic sites. Any updates from people there?

San Ramon is either growing or shrinking or stagnating. WTH is going on over there?

What news of Detroit's location?

We in Detroit are up in the air just like rest of Digital. Numbers are way down from 1140 high to under 500. We will be consolidated down to one building early next year. Numbers will be down to 300 - 350 by mid year 2018. So more layoffs.

Tennis may be Predix on Azure to move away from sole dependence on AWS. But it’s probably separate from the investment in GED. Will know for sure before end of month. Maybe even next week.

Short version of where we are = we are screwed. Try to find a new role soon before there is a plethora of resumes from GED in circulation.

Good luck friend.

Tennis has something to do with MS. Exactly what is unknown - but Tennis involved Mr. Flannery and the board...

GED is done for. IT is going to move back to the businesses and Predix,APM etc will either be sold or disposed of. GE thought software is a joke and in no time they will be competing with Google but that was the stupidity of its executives. There will also be a flight of talent out of GED, I know of at least 4 ppl in my or alone who are already looking for jobs outside GE.

@U1d4uAJ-1aan That's kind of what I meant. I know CoreTech and CS are getting spun-off, but the buyer is a big question mark, and if no buyer emerges, do they abandon the spin-off? And will CT and CS be a package deal?

@U1d4uAJ-1vxl So that eliminates Microsoft, Dell, and the other rumored software companies. That leaves SoftBank in the running, though.

@U1d4uAJ-1jry GED Chicago is probably safe. I would also imagine that Wise.io is safe unless they've lost a lot of talent.

"And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill [R.] that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit." —Stephen Root as Milton Waddams in Office Space (1999)

Some mentioned are not rumors. Executives told employees that they are looking for someone to take CoreTech and they would be minority owner. They also informed us that company looking to move cyber security. So those are facts not rumors. Starting in third quarter they will re-align employees to one of the existing verticals. Some layoffs will occur during this period. Corporate is going to be greatly downsized. These are also facts. Many other things are rumors. But you should understand that there will be a lot of layoffs, role changes and transition. San Ramon is ripe for sale of predix's OS to another company. My guess is those working on service apps maybe safe but expect some more downsizing. GE is mainly a east coast type company so may see San Ramon pretty much gone. Detroit should survive but also in a much smaller scale. Good luck everyone.

Ultimately we are in deep BS, looks we might receive some additional info in next week before GE quarterly results(General Electric Company is expected* to report earnings on 07/20/2018 before market open). I also heard something of Project Tennis only god know what the hell that means and what value that brings. As I see more senior and EB level people ditching out of GED no sure about where its leading too..
