Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Marathon Oil is a joke

This company is a joke. I finally made the decision to leave and I don't regret it one bit.

I'm so tired of nepotism and idiotic politics that value brownnosing over actual good work.

My advice to everybody here is to get out before this ship sinks completely. This company is going downhill and there's no stopping it anymore.

I am sorry, but everyone I know that has left Marathon is much happier!! Everyone has a different experience. But, I do think Marathon will be fine and the metrics vs. peer group are good, they fall in the top quartile. The leadership is ok with the exception of HR.

Every single person in a technical role who has left Marathon that I know of is much happier elsewhere. Of the ones of us who remain, I can pretty much tell you we are looking to leaving as soon as an opportunity comes up.

To @U1NfASn-1sya, I know many people who left and have been very happy outside.

I think it really depends on where you are. If you are in the support orgs (Finance, IT, HR, Supply Chain), leaving makes sense. You can go to another industry and not deal with the oil downturn or over politicized environments.

If you look at the numbers MRO has been a slowly sinking ship since it split from petroleum. They sure do know how to sell assets and fudge numbers like crazy.

Any corporate job is going to have politics involved. Hopefully you didn’t leave for another corporate job. Everyone I know who has left marathon has regretted doing so. Quit comparing yourself to others and look inward. Glad you left. Losing people like you shows that marathon is on the way up.
