Open Door Investigation Process

Anyone here with some knowledge about the Open Door Investigation Process? What can be expected there and is the process rigged? Is it fair? Is it objective?

Any gotchas or things that I need to be careful about?

I appreciate any input someone may have.

They've asked me to participate in an open door. The investigator says she's neutral is she. They won't give me an agenda for the meeting, haven't defined the scope or given me the nature of their questions. Is this other people's experience?

If you go to HR and decide on an "open door" - sadly, you should bring 1) broom stick handle, 2) sand and 3) no lubricant.

One thing to keep in mind... HR isn't on your side. They will turn everything around and make you the issue and protect management. At least that was my experience.

Good luck.

Yep, you only have a 10% chance of winning. However, if you are being fired anyway, there is no harm, especially if you have supporting docs and witnesses. Force your mgr to sweat while you are being forced out.

It is completely rigged and unfair, and unethical. What you should do with a valid complaint is speak to an employment attorney first. DO THIS first -- nearly all attorneys will hear your issue and speak to you initially with no fees or contracts. If you have a valid complaint, file a case with either the EEOC or OSHA (if Intel retaliated against you for raising issues). Likely EEOC will fir most of Intel's style of abuse. Open doors are nonsense and designed by Intel to intercept possible legal problems before employees file a legitimate complaint to the government. Good luck.

You are doomed.

It's just a joke to justify a-- kicking.

Good luck.

Only give the information you are asked. Don’t volunteer any information. Answer in yes no if you can. Don’t argue, don’t threaten, don’t fight. Stick to your version of events . And write down what they say or ask so that you have documentation as well.

Your manager will write made up notes with made up dates, they won’t interview anyone that doesn’t help their case against you. This is their chance to make up a fake case against you to see if it can fake a judge into ruling against you, and prevent you from wanting to sue. Opening the open door investigation will cause them to put a silence order on anyone that has real facts so nobody speaks the truth. Their manipulation and threat tactics will scare everyone you work with to turn against you. They will promise those that could help prove your case a promotion, bonuses, raises and even your job, telling them that their own job was being eliminated, so they feel their only choice is to modify their words to help the manager and hurt you. Then they will never give them the things they promised. You will lose your job, they will hate theirs, the manager and director will enjoy this game with no repricussions on them.

It's rigged. Everything you say gets passed straight back to management.

Second, when Intel began its Open Door investigation in January 2002 into Plaintiff's allegations that Callaghan was harassing him and treating him unfairly, Plaintiff improperly attempted to coerce his subordinates into giving only positive reviews of him."8
