Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Icdg redeployment truth

Intel are out of the iPhone come 2020. Of course any manager in charge of this group will just redeploy to the next modem generation. The reality is Intel are out and never getting back in. The new CEO will have to address why 10% of Intel's workforce is working on a product nobody wants shortly.

The reasons for firing these managers are two fold: (1) their stupid processes, pricing, and decisions caused loss of The business, and (2) there is no more work for them. Did Intel ever think of redeploying all those they laid off in 2015/2016? Stupid to keep unskilled mgrs!

@1sbp. Agreed. Apart from Intel who would buy Infineon back in 2010/11 when they even didn't have a 4G modem under development.

why would anyone ever acquire anything in high cost Germany. Infeneon was licking its chops and could not believe its luck when s---er Intel unloaded their trash

Infineon is a much better employer then Intel, and it shows in the investment per employee. Intel did not realize that they have to go all in, and actually support further development of 4G products, instead of just pushing the dev teams for quick easy releases. There is no innovation in copy-paste and modify.

Some of the news reports state that Intel will try to re-capture the Apple account with the next 5G modem generation in 2022. That's a nice fairy tale. Intel might have finally gotten 10nm out the door by then, but TSMC will be sitting pretty on 5nm or maybe even 3nm?

Infineon is by far the costliest and wasteful acquisition. Even though Intel paid 5-6 billion for it, it must have cost upwards of 40billion since. Shameful record.
