Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

SBA reorg pilot hitting today and tomorrow

Going to one P&L for each region. Some RIF’s depending on category. Blending some elements of C&E and MM.

It should not be called “all hands”. It should be called “less hands” and time to rob the remaining.

At least 15 or so in the areas I am aware of, but likely more. It’s all word of mouth at this point until all hands meeting in a couple of weeks.

"Those all sound like good moves. Those areas needed to be thinned out."

It seems you don't actually work for Staples, because if you did, you'd know that those areas are already spread thin.

There are account managers in many specialities that have over a thousand accounts (the average account load was just below 70 last year for specialist, and a couple hundred for generalist) because the company laid off too many people. If you do the math, you can see that it's not possible to service that many accounts.

Therefore, as already discussed, upwards of 10% of SBA accounts have severed their contracts due to lack of service.

This also explains why sales also aren't being hit, aside from them being three times last years goals. Managers can't sell to accounts they can't even service due to sheer overload.

But, I guess employees are supposed to turn water into wine now, right?

Please stop trolling. It serves no real purpose.

It’s all true. Confirmed with Directors from all over the country and multiple categories.

Some of this is not true but how many reorgs is it going to take to get it right? Might want to start searching at the top!

Rolling out to leadership this week. Rolling to the field in a couple of weeks. All based on recommendations from Boston Consulting. Starting in one RVP region.
