Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

With Allscripts having a high deductible Health plan giving it to you for a year isnt so great since they will no longer contribute to your HSA. So you are still paying out of pocket once you run the current HSA contributions dry.

Feel bad for those that dont qualify. They are likely to be left holding the bag when the inevitable end comes. But I am sure Paul Black et al will golden chute out of there with smiles

Very few, if any, former EIS folks were eligible for this.

If they were, Allscripts would have to offer them a different package. The terms of the sale, Allscripts is required to honor mckesson's severance package which is two weeks for every year of service for the first year after the acquisition. After October 2nd it would revert to the Allscripts standard of one week per year of service.

Definitely loosing some very experienced support staff from several product lines. Also a key meaningful use resource person at the corporate level. Remaining support staff have heard that support positions will be back-filled with offshore staffing. Support staff from US seems to be dwindling fast.

Likely there is some misinformation going on in this posting. No word of 2 different packages being offered. The package everyone is talking about is one week for every completed year of service + 4 additional weeks and subsidized health care for 12 months. Hearing that some key worker bees have applied for the program and many of them have been approved. Time will tell.

Hard to understand just where EIS resides in this mess as opposed to the other enterprise size products Allscripts offers and why the diff packages...

It’s a deal if you wait they may have nothing. I believe lthey are depleting high salaries and knowledge with intent to sell for customer base for what is left of it. Don’t be afraid go for it you’ll be happier and better off. I speak from experience of having gone through layoffs at this company. Your future self with thank you!

I'm more curious to see what happens when people DON'T take the offer. I'm assuming/hoping that they reach whatever minimum they are hoping for so an actual layoff doesn't occur. I'm not exactly ready to lose my job just yet.

You are right. It is not a good deal but it is the standard layoff package Allscripts has offered for years with the exception of the healthcare coverage of one year in this latest offer. In the standard layoff package, healthcare coverage only last while you have severance pay. It will be interesting to see how many people opt to take the offer.

Doesn’t sound like a good deal to me. One week per each year of service? Pass.
