Looks like today is the day for lay-offs in the Poindexter Building and Centennial Buildings for DST.
Our interns were in the office today? Not sure where you are coming from. Don't think they are volunteering anywhere next week either!
Here’s some insight, the interns have meeting June 6th all day, June 14th they have community service. Might be movement then.
Interns are here now so as typical they will probably wait till the interns are all having some kind of "fun" day out function on their own as they did previously.
The company is really not functioning at 100 percent. The sooner they get the layoffs behind them. Then they will get the bang for the buck. It’s silly, we all know layoffs are going to happen. Why wait. The older employees are costing the company more for health reasons, PTO time etc. most of them including myself are ready. Weed us out age plus years of service smartest thing they can do. They need to get it done so numbers, concentration, everything will go up. My opinion, and Everyone has one so it’s not wrong, just my take on things.
I want to get laid off. My service is 26 weeks pay plus the 6 months health insurance costs paid out in all one lump sum is a huge payday for me. If I can get another job any job I can pay down a lot of bills
Actually with matching 401k, it’s cheaper to let go in 2018.
For those of you who keep saying it is cheaper to wait until 2019 to lay people off, you're forgetting one huge fact. Between now and then you are still getting paid and still getting company paid benefits. Thus, it is not cheaper for them to keep you until 2019. Do the math. If you get laid off now with one year's severance, verses getting laid off next June with 6 months severance, guess which one actually cost the company more money?? Getting laid off now actually costs the company more.
Severance is paid out in lump sum. They’ll want to do a sizable layoff, get the severance behind them in 2018 & get those associates off the payroll because they’ll want to show their shareholders that they are making progress towards their $150 million run rate savings goal. I agree, employees who are laid off during the 1st year post sale will get more severance than those laid off after 4/16/19. I’d be willing to bet we’ll see a large layoff this month.
Read the new severance package guidelines, yes, it will be cheaper to lay off people in 2019.
Is it really cheaper if you are paying people to literally do nothing?
Basically, it's cheaper to keep you until 2019....
Kinda like divorce, cheaper to keep her...
Based on what I read on the new severance package, better to be laid off the first year, as it's a better severance amount. If you get laid off in 2019 or later, you're going to get far less $$$ , no matter how long you worked for DST.
That is why they are not laying off that many people in 2018.
"An employer who violates the WARN provisions is liable to each employee for an amount equal to back pay and benefits for the period of the violation, up to 60 days. The liability may be reduced by the period of any notice that was given and any voluntary payments that the employer made to the employee, sometimes referred to as "pay in lieu of notice.""
In other words, severance pay greater than the penalty is considered "pay in lieu of notice". Because of the severance package that's been formalized, DST is already thought through the WARN Act. There won't be a penalty for no notice.
The penalty for violating the WARN Act is 60 days pay to individuals let go that should have been given notice. If they are offering severance in excess of that it really doesn't matter.
Right but just saying because if they are doing this massive 1k plus layoff I see no mention of that either...
according to the warn act, a layoff has to include 50 or more people in a given location and does not include part-time or contract employees. I'm sure they stay just under that limit so they don't have to publicize that the layoff is coming. not that it is the ethical thing to do, but they dodge the requirement.
For those thinking DST is honorable and doing "the right thing" as they claim there is no entry from what I can see on the 2016 - 2017 - 2018 warn act Missouri site for when they had that "major" layoff back in march/april last year, or any such cuts notification since then. No entries to this date from them any where for what I could see to warn that anything was coming.

That alone is concerning. Shows the execs don't give a crap about our well being. And just a number,
the execs are hiding this info
all you see here are guesses and rumors
you can try to piece the story together based on posts here, but be careful
Sorry to hear. It is happening. Just not all in one location. Think they are doing just consultants today. Could be wrong.. but right on the numbers for June.
2019 will be worse. Get out while you can...IF you wait too long may be under ssncs severance package plan which may be nothing..
This the first I have heard, any updates my Dst friends . Would like to know age, business unit or division.
dying business .
To -1occ. I’m sorry to hear you were laid off, unless it’s what you were hoping for. What building / division do you work in? Were you called in by HR or your manager? Are they letting you go immediately or did you get a 30 day notice?
I was just laid off...let the fun begin.
Yes it is June 1, and havent seen any .or heard about notices. Funny how this happens.
Very good you know how to tell what day it is....."insert clapping emoji here. ."
Well? It's June 1....
Just for 1k people though to start here not all...
The 30 day notice is true, it is for the BFDS/DST employees. Don’t know if it is happening today, but rumblings do indicate it is SOON.
A 30 day notice sounds risky. If you know your laid off in 3o days you will slack and think about sensitivity of data you work with. No don’t think so!!!
Associates will be given their 30 day notices on friday as DST closes the books on the sale to SS&C end of 2nd quarter. SS&C to let go remaining workers after integration.
Someone claims in another post they just got off a call and it's happening tomorrow 6/1.....dont know the truth to that .
You can shrug this off and say meh, or take heed and realize that this s could actually be real this time. You are in control of how you feel. Not this site. Take it as it is.
I will strongly doubt that any one will divulge their sources on this site. That would be stupid. Believe this origional post, or not. The choice is yours. Seems like when they start letting consultants go that is usually another sign it's for real as they have done that in the past before layoffs and are doing that now.
The only source for all of this comes from this site with no adittional info from the poster.
Where did they find this out?
Who is this person that gave the info to the source?
Any other information to justify the hesteria this information is causing?
I feel like these are valid question for all of us here
JUNE 20TH 2018, 1000 people.
Why would they give that information in advance!
It’s in the best interest of the company not to leak info, how much work would actually be done if they said ok on June 20th were going to layoff 1200 people across the board. I wouldn’t bust my a$$ would you?
