The lower pay employees need not to worry as there are operator and planner type manufacturing jobs everywhere. It is the higher pay supervisor and technician up jobs that are hard to come by. With medical costing five hundred a month for a single person that eats up a severance pretty quick. Been there did that and my bank account did not like it. Hopefully everyone finds a good job soon with some benefits. Trust me anything is better than the stress micron puts on you.
To all of you in Boise who think they are safe your time will come. List or no list if you can find something different leave!
Yikes! That I'm afraid that is the reality of what is going on now in Micron. It sounds harsh, but it really is just that harsh. It is as simple as this; if you have been told you have a departure date whether it is sooner or later you need to be looking for a job now.Micron is not going to help you.Unless you are ready to fully retire you are going to need a job.
Plan on moving because there is no work here for high tech. If you want to stay be prepared to take a 50 percent cut in pay. Someone from California will buy your house with a smile if you are willing to leave. Your life is going to change, them individuals who have already gotten laid off actually got a better deal because there was lots of jobs back in September and now there is not squat available. There was plenty of time to plan for this, so don't feel sorry for yourself.
Micron pride? No one cares about you anymore and your Micron friends will not be there for you once your gone either because Micron builds backstabbers.
It's not about the August layoffs coming; all of us will be gone. It's about the others that have been given a departure date a year from August. Are they going to stay another year with nothing to do? I wouldn't bet on it. That just doesn't make any sense.
