Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

do i have a lawsuit

I worked in Melville VDO. June 6, 2017 we were told we were laid off as of June 29. Then they changed their minds a few times bc its funs to play with people.

Last I heard the Brooklyn? maybe it was the Bronx? version of VDO (who was union) had the union fight for them and cited the agreement that said they would not lay off any customer facing employees.

The union saved their jobs on those grounds the employees all went back to work.

I ended up quitting bc this company is garbage. BUT since Altice hired those workers back once the union pressed them... that tells me the union had a leg to stand on and Altice violated the agreement.

If that's the case, then shouldn't every Melville VDO employee who was laid off have a case for wrongful termination?

how do I get that lawyers information? as for my former co-workers I would have no idea how to get ahold of all of them. but his smells like a class action lawsuit.

getting a years pay for all the BS that company put us through MIGHT START to make things right.

If anyone has the lawyers info please post.

CWA sent letter on behalf of Bronx RCC dept. to the NYS Public Service Commission asserting that Altice was in violation of their agreement by laying off customer-facing employees. Two days prior to the layoff, Altice shockingly gave RCC the option to transfer to Customer Service dept. I personally believe that they did that in response to CWA sending that letter to the PSC in order to escape any culpability.

Suggestion to you and your former colleagues.

  1. Contact the NYS Public Service Commission and state your case.

  2. Contact the lawyer that is currently pursuing a wrongful termination case on behalf of one of the 100+ customer-facing technicians that were also leveraged out last June 29th.

"....the Commission will prohibit Cablevision from laying off, or taking any action effecting an involuntary reduction (excluding retirement incentives and attrition), in any customer-facing jobs in New York in the four years following the issuance of this Order."

side note:

For those unaware, Brooklyn still has a fully staffed RCC & Logistics Dept. (there's only one reason why that is)

Well in the end they decided that we wouldn't be laid off at the end of June but WOULD be let go in Sept or Oct... they were not sure yet... At that point I was beyond disgusted so I quit... but that doesn't change the fact that they laid us off and seemingly violated the agreement by doing so.

Think about it.. if the union fought in the brnx or Brooklyn or wherever it was... this miserable crooked company would have never hired those workers back unless they legally had no choice..

but if you worked in Melville with no union to fight for you.... then you were gone
