Cox Comcast and spectrum offer 900/35 "gig" speeds over D.3.1 it's trash my friend only gets 300 down and tool service off a week later . ..
FTTH is the way 2 go
.
Spectrum is advertising 940 mbps over their existing network.
of course the upgrade is on the coax network. the fiber network will never launch!
Makes sense... all our customers are leaving , more bandwidth
OSP used to be preventative maintenance. Now they can barely keep up with the title wave of crap going their way. Great idea to cut staffing so deep, another winning move bought to us by Altice management.
"Company does not have a good maintenance plan and OSP techs to clean up all the noise Node"
I have to agree with that statement.
Prior to Altice take over, there was a stronger emphasis on Nodes in Distress (NID). Now, that is no longer the case and we all should know why.
-
Forced reduction of experienced OSP technicians (eg. Bronx has 1200+ nodes and only 20 plant techs) + (20 plant techs to cover all 4 systems in Connecticut)
-
Management focused more on FTTH rather than existing coax
-
ROC continuously set up plant issues that aren't 'realtime' resulting in unnecessary truck rolls.
-
Reporting manipulation by management: Several years ago, someone up top decided to cap the Node Health Score at 80% which meant that no matter how severe the noise is on any given node, the score would never go below 80%. The disadvantage of this is that OSP dept. would never be able to properly prioritize which node to address first. When this issue was brought to management attention, it was ignored.
-
adding more responsibility to remaining plant techs: (eg. covering standby for FS dept & construction dept)
Fat Barry showing up at Bronx shop last week talking pure crap only fuels the growing discontent amongst the workforce. It's just a matter of time before they deliver the final blow.
Especially harthorne shop it’s sooo under staff there’s no real OSP techs left please come back
Company does not have a good maintenance plan and OSP techs to clean up all the noise Node
200megs is more than enough for typical needs. Anyway.
hey....300 Mbps we are filling out union cards so we can keep you around. meet at mcdonalds on Monday to sign a card!
And most parts of Suddenlink have Gigabit but then again they had it before Altice took over, Altice just expanded it.
The real question is how many people actually need this speed and can actually have devices that support it?
-
Verizon Fios already offering 1Gbps via fiber
-
Comcast already offering 1Gbps via docsis 3.1
-
Altice currently offering 400Mbps via doscis 3.0 --- 😟
Altice must give the appearance that they're keeping up with the competition. 🤔👍🏽
Technically, since most of our nodes are utilizing 24 downstreams, they'll probably continue to push the limits of docsis 3.0 with these Arris modems.... (theoretically 960Mbps download)
best we can do for the time being......no worries though, according to Fat Barry, our fiber-to-the-home build is moving very swiftly.
What's the upload speed
Who cares
Didn't they release a IT Update months ago saying they were testing 500 amd 700.
The 700 if still offering will probably go to business.
