Where are some of the places people are getting jobs at? Seems last September there were lots of technical jobs out there. Now there does not seem to be many. Once laid off can we go back to school since we lost our jobs to overseas?

My husband is going to lose his job after working 28 years for Micron. He is a 7$6# in the &$@^ department. I am worried about him. His heath problems are stress related which micron caused. 50 to 60 hour week or else you are out?
Technology is in every business now. Use the skills that you have learned to apply to a new kind of job in a new field. The tech business, at least in this area is very unstable, no matter what they say there will always be layoffs. If you are willing to think outside of the box you may find that it opens up other opportunities. Micron is still laying off. Even employees who have been given an extended departure date will be gone long before that date. They just don't know that yet.
Boise is a great place to live, but I would move. Micron and HP are ruthless with constant random layoffs.
I recommend Aerospace/Defense like Lockheed Martin, Boeing or Raytheon. Why? People actually retire from those companies. Jobs cannot be moved overseas or replaced with H1B visa workers. You also get every other Friday off with the 9/80 work schedule. These companies are hiring like crazy because of the increase in Military spending and the large amount of Baby Boomers retiring.
Get the hell out of sleepy boise would be my suggestion
