Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Any more details on reductions?

Does anybody have any more info on the upcoming reductions at Enbridge? How many will be let go and which groups will be affected the most?

Knowing something is coming but not knowing exactly what seems as bad as not knowing at all.

Any info would be highly appreciated.

Seems like a lot of groups with the acronym ending in "P" are looked at unfavourably within Enbridge. MP, LP...but there is one group from this category that is the opposite. IP which stands for Infrastructure Planning (and Lifecycle Effectiveness). This group should be regarded as the finest conglomerate of energy industry rockstars ever assembled in the Enbridge universe. Superb project management skillset, unparalleled knowledge of terminal flow paths, deep hydraulic expertise and company leaders in their own right. They are the driving force behind Enbridge's past, present and future success and must be kept immune from any layoffs that may happen if the company is to have any chance at prosperity in the foreseeable future.

If MP stands for major problems then LP definitely stands for Low productivity. Having worked with both groups I can say at least the MP group can answer a technical question, some folks in LP rely so heavily on the engineering firms to answer a standard question. Will be Interesting to see how those people will function now that the use of these firms has/will be reduced

MP is commonly referred to as major problems. Lots of unqualified folks reside there because they’re a friend of a friend or know what the underside of someone’s desk looks like. Want something done with double the original schedule and triple the budget with zero accountability? MP is the group for you. Worst of all are those from MP that have been been promoted or moved laterally to other groups spreading MP halfassery like a disease. With any luck they’ll dissolve MP and chop 3/4 of anyone who has an MP background.

MP = Major Projects. There’s a corporate communication about this. It doesn’t say how many reductions will be made, but it says some are coming for that group.

Its not just MP its all of the construction groups Als email stated there were 1500 in the combined groups. Best guess is at least 1/3 rd will go.

I don't think there are 1000 people in all of MP.

The company will be no less safe if 1/2 of the safety people are let go. Never saw such an inactive group in my life. Other than making up new forms to fill out they do nothing.

Safety come from each person being responsible for themselves and their co-workers. Not from a form.
