I think the “ Buy More Save More “ Program really worked back in the day . You could buy one box of file folders and save $2. If you bought 2 boxes you saved $4. That was twice as much as $2 , therefore the name of the program . Now if you bought 3 boxes , the savings went to $6. It was uncanny . The more boxes of file folders you bought you saved EVEN MORE !!!! If you were buying 10,000 boxes of file folders for the home office at General Motors ( because they needed a lot of file folders ) then you could save $20,000.

Today , the more people that Sycamore fires , the more they save . New program : “ Term More Save More “. Genius. The fraudulent leaders of the past are all having a nice holiday weekend and are sitting on tens of millions of dollars each ......for what ? Nice legacy.

“ The brand that will last a hundred years “ . What crap .

Remember , it wasn’t the leadership that was responsible for the demise of the company . They were really smart people . It was YOU ...because you didn’t make your sales goals . Hilarious .

The people in the audience would applaud the absolute phony leaders standing on stage talking nonsense at the “ annual meetings” . They should have been booed off the stage . There wasn’t an ounce of real leadership among them.

Not fiction.

Maybe not frequently but there have been several "Oh sh*t we actually need that person we just canned" where they have gone back to the person to either ask them to work for a few more weeks / months longer, or just straight up offered them their jobs back. Some have taken it, some have laughed.

it's true, recruiters aren't begging me but they did call me twice.

I laughed.

What's not happening is recruiters begging people people to come back. Pure fiction.

you only need HR people if you have employees.

if 1/2 the staff will be leaving, you can cut HR in half.

What do you mean "Nothing like this is happening." ?? Are you blind? HR laid off several people last week in Framingham. Marketing laid off at least 20 the week before. SDS laid off people a few weeks before that. It is happening. It will continue to happen. They will keep trimming and trimming to cut costs. Not so much that it hurts sales numbers, but they do not care if you're engaged, or happy or doing the job of 4 people. This is only about money.

There is no career left at Staples. If you want a paycheck for a few more months, fine. Many will be able to eek out a few years or more, it's not going down quick, but it is going down.

Where were the layoffs? Home office? Field? Retail? SBA?..... so sad to hear the carnage continues. The recruiters are all wondering why it’s so hard to get applicants for the spots that keep opening up- comical. I heard they are even trying to call back old employees that were let go begging them to come back saying they made a mistake. Too little...too late
