Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Where will the Great Company with Great Employees demonstrate their greatness next?

California? Nope. Sold out and ran from California. Garbage assets that were run in to the ground, workplace bullying and persecution of people who were different and a total lack of ability to retain anyone near professional staff. Remember LTS 1 fractionation consolidation? A $14MM failure at Elk Hills. Burning people alive due to TOL corrosion and don't get me started on the Vintage or Long Beach properties. How about offshore North sea? Yeah, we all know how great Oxy is up there. Top people working for a top company performed well there. Then how about Bahrain? Nope Tatweer petroleum was a childish and petty exercise in backstabbing that had Oxy run off by the Bahrain oil minister. I know, Oxy are Great in North Dakota. ROFLMAO. $1.6 billion purchase, 600MM sale of Williston assets. That is GREAT. Uhuh. There must be something in Ecuador, Argentina or Brazil. Ummm, no. Ran off from each one of those with massive write downs and a total disgrace as a company due to incompetence and conflicts with governments. Libya must be somewhere......oh, no. Illegal activities and corruption lobbying to bypass US law isn’t exactly great. Oxy have a great environmental record though! You just have to ignore the ranking of 19th worst air polluter in the US, the Petrolia spill, the 30 years of damage with the Maynas Carijano and the ‘we did nothing wrong, Oxy is great’ out of court settlement for an undisclosed fee. I'm sure a company like this can hold its head high with the bigoted bullying endorsed by its 'great' employees. Nice 11 billion dollar loss on top of all that, too.

What are your thoughts about the relo? Are you headed out west, or are you planning to jump to another company in a nearby office?

Apparently, the typical Oxy employee is more concerned with moving campus than being accountable for their disgraceful behavior, huge professional staff turnover, total lack of ethics and repugnant business practices.

Wasn't there a $2.6 billion write down on reserves by Occidental at Elk Hills soon before they sold out? Wonder what that did for layoffs? I know Kern county or some government official wanted an explanation as to the massive incompetence in such a failure since it affected the tax revenues. Yep, I also remember all the good professional staff leaving, but that wasn't confined to Elk Hills at the time.

Don't forget the Bakersfield parking lot massacre (layoff) and the premature Elk Hills million dollar pipeline to the Thunderball exploration well which didn't produce. SO many incompetent supervisors and managers and VPs. The large amount of the competent technical staff left for better companies long ago while the who-you-know or blow people stayed and became supervisors, managers, VPs, and CEO.
