Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

RiseSmart service for laidoff

Intel has chosen RiseSmart company to help those laidoff with career services and land their next job.

I have not found them to be helpful, supportive and they conduct 20 minute meetings (because the consultant assigned to me is always 10 minutes late for the 30minutes scheduled). All she does is ask me on my progress. She seems disinterested. Takes no interest in what I want to do. Take calls in the bathroom. Or while she is not in front of her computer, at a shopping center. She's not even looked at my resume. Just emails me literature to read for anything I ask her.

Feedback I get from her is not informative or helpful either. I have been more successful in getting interviews prior to RiseSmart or using google to get my answers on jobsearch/interviewing/resume etc.

There have been no outplacement or referrals for a job to any company by RiseSmart as indicated by their website. I am thinking of withdrawing from Sunrise.

But prior to that, I wanted to know about other people's experience with RiseSmart.

  1. Have any of you used them or found them to be instrumental in your job search ?

  2. Also what information does Intel receive from RiseSmart about the people laid off ?

A couple of responders spoke about LHH. The so-called advisers in this company we're mainly previously fired or laid off HR personnel from other companies in different industries. They knew relatively nothing about marketing a candidate's skillset and background. They only worried about small details in the resume. My biggest concern was that these people did not even have a network internal to hiring companies but kept stating how important it was to develop it. Well, if they now know you as a client including experience and behavioral aspects, you would think they can pass this info to their Network. No go. They just sat on their hands and would call you for 5 minute meetings about your "progress". I thought these discussions were just part of their weekly progress reports to their management so they got "credit" for job they were doing.

3 weeks period, starting May 1 was sufficient indication of unprofessional, disorganized and ignorant RiseSmart service.

You don't get career or job advice from people who can't get a job or career themselves.

Risesmart are just collecting consulting fees for doing nothing as they KNOW NOTHING about current job market or how prestigious companies hire.

RiseSmart take your resume and run them through templates. End result is same resume with different format. Intel Blue Hire program was more useful than this crappy service. Shame on Intel for adding to wounds of laid off with useless RiseSmart.

Intel should give people option (just like they do with COBRA):

Give us payment to go with a service of our choice, rather than forcing us to go with RiseSmart.

Did "Lee Hecht Harrison" change their name to "RiseSmart" ??? Yup, it's exactly the same.

Risesmart? Huh. They used Lee Hecht Harrison in 2016 which was a completely useless company. Much the same as you describe. Not interested in you as a client. Ask same questions every session. Keep changing your resume and never come to a conclusive optimal version of resume. Don't understand the job market nor the companies that are looking for eager new hires. Don't have any contacts themselves into hiring companies yet they ask the clients to develop a network internal to these companies. Sounds like Risesmart provides same pathetic service.

Go with Sunrise to get your jobs-in-progress sabbotaged. Sharing with Sunrise where and what jobs you are interviewing for can be the most disservice to yourself and your purpose of finding next job after Intel. Consultant get paid for keeping unemployed jobless for an extended period and getting paid to make regular check on you.
