Employee Engagement Survey Coming!

Always right before the layoffs. Brace yourselves. Be sure to let them know exactly how you feel because they want to collect nice happy numbers before the sh8tcanninh begins. Like it here? Great! Great company! Yes, we eliminated your position but we’re glad you liked it. Aren’t we amazing? An employer of choice! Look at us go! We are astounding!

There must have been an extremely low participation rate. Home office has extended the availability of the survey because "they care about what we think!" Sure you do lol.

6xxa, fine, I give up. I agree with you that there is no output from the survey that affects the layoffs. That was never my case. There is no relationship but the timing. If the timing doesn’t matter then why don’t they give the survey next week instead, after what seems like the layoffs that are happening right now. Why did they give it just before the layoffs? Why not give it after the layoffs when everyone is pissed off, panicked, and renewing their quest for a new job? Hmm.

6cii//layoffs are decided long before the results of the survey. Like I said one has nothing to do with the other. They clean house before the new fiscal year.

5wit—correct, the survey doesn’t cause the layoffs. DeVry causes the layoffs. They just run the survey right before the layoffs. Consistently. Every year. To get good numbers before slamming it to us. The survey is an omen, a harbinger. It runs first, then bad things happen to Rome’s and positions. See the most recent threads here about layoffs starting with home Office.

4Key--One has nothing to do with the other. It just so happens that both take place right before the new fiscal year. I'll be Xmas treeing my survey today. Let the BS flow!

Yes but the OP’s point was that they usually immediately precede the layoffs.

These surveys are meaningless nonsense: honestly answered (bad) surveys lead nowhere, and too many gave nonsense high ratings out of fear of reprisal if discovered. Making them "manditory" further compromises their honesty and accuracy. So, it's a ridiculous exercise.

If it’s a 0 to 10 scale, it’s based on NPS (Net Promoter Score). Giving them a 6 is the same thing as giving them a zero. Have fun.

Engagement scores being "up" only meant how MANY responded, not the content of the responses...... which was why they called it "mandatory"........while truthfully it was just "meaningless."

HELLO!! DONT YOU GUYS GET IT?!? the leadership gets a larger bonus if their engagement scores are up! If you dont tell the truth ...we still get CRAP and they get more $$$...DUH!!

I always responded honestly. I was under the thought that if I was fired for being honest then I was glad to be out of such a place. But I also saw the direction devry was going and figured it wasnt anywhere good if things didnt change. They would post all these happy numbers. I wondered how much of that was total BS.

No matter what employees said on this survey, the results were reported as wonderful happy talk every year!! A large percentage disagreeing on everything and pointing out problems was NEVER part of the results they would report, AND it only subjected respondents to some kind of retaliation, since the surveys were never truly anonymous, so it is true that doing it quickly by giving the same high score for everything just made it an easier way to complete the obligation of filling it out because everyone knew problems would never be addressed no matter how many times they were reported :-(

Tell the truth? Are you on crack? What for? Nothing changes if you tell the truth and nothing changes if you lie. The only outcome is that if you tell the truth you get punished and or fire Because these surveys are hardly anonymous.

there is at least one case of a dean in LA who sued these deceitful people for wrongful termination. the details of the civil lawsuit is behind the paywall so not sure what's the outcome.

@TeoSrQ0-3oir, thank you for finally explaining how the ratings end up so high. We've been scratching our heads for years trying to figure out how the numbers get so inflated like that, when none of us give ratings anywhere near those levels. Personally, I'm always completely honest on the survey, but it doesn't seem to make a lick of difference.

I BS my way through that survey every year. One year a few departments told the truth. They were punished by campus Admins. Since then we just give perfect scores. It's just easier to lie.

Engagement surveys are for all Adtalem institutions . They'll probably leave out the DVU results from the overall results. Why should Atdalem care what DVU employees have to say?
