What I'm saying is if you believe in game playing people out of their jobs and you believe in Do Unto Others, well.

The IRS can audit your business any day of the week that they want. And they can come back two days later and audit your business again. And then they can come back another two days later and audit you again. Hope you hypothetically speaking have all your Duckies in a Row. It might take a serious minded person to do that for ya, though, if you are experiencing a lot of growth in your business.

So, not every business is run like a big business.

Whoa!

Ya, I don't think one of my former bosses, ya know, who used to work for HP, ya know, who went out and started his own business to the expense of his home and his marriage and a lot of money would really appreciate it if I went to work for his company and started game playing with his money. Just another perspective. Went public, sold to another large company multi-billion dollar deal.

Life is funny like that sometimes.

So, let me paint you a little hypothetical picture here: Okay, you've worked for a large company for 20 plus years. You finally feel like this is your opportunity to get out there and start your OWN company. Be a success. You allocate 5000 for the quarter for new equipment and have your quarterly taxes paid promptly.

Okay, enter the game player. Your game player wanted to help create jobs and play a game. So, they go out and spend 50,000 on new equipment and decide to not pay your quarterly taxes. Would you get upset about it?

Wow. Maybe you should have hired a serious minded person for that job?

All depends on your perspective.

What the hell was that all about ?

What's even MORE insulting and degrading is that the following article says that we were never supposed to be serious about our jobs. Gee, why bother with Sarbanes-Oxley? Why bother when shareholders get pissed about losing money? This article indicates that this was all done for general entertainment purposes because people were BORED. Wow, I wonder if someone thinks audits from the IRS are boring, it means that they don't have to follow the rules anymore? There's a balance. Wow, I guess I should've playing games with multi-million dollar deals at work the whole time and blowing off people's complaints about quality.

Playing games can cost the company money. Serious people that develop effective business processes are those that exercised the required disciplines necessary to give you SUCH A CLEAN HANDOFF to your overseas operations.

At least SOME executives BOTHER to give credit to the individuals when CREDIT IS DUE. Those processes have to actually work, be documented, presented, product training and the right education. Insulting and degrading these individuals for NOT being gamey with their job is not the right answer. They STILL ADDED VALUE to your PROFIT MARGIN. They were part of almost every order booked, including your precious multi-million dollar SuperDome deals.

It takes discipline from an individual to put together those processes, have them adequately documented (what do you mean, I write code), have proper product training in place. You are stating that discipline with business doesn't matter. Hope you still share that opinion when your accountants just decide to NOT pay your corporate taxes any longer. Then will see how much you think being serious on the job doesn't matter.

Whalp. Good Luck paying taxes on your options. Wow, you guys seemed to TAKE THAT ONE seriously from the outcry in the media? You wanna play a game? You think it's only game playing that matters? You think serious somber people don't add value or make a contribution at all to American business?

If you think HPE is the only tech company laying off in large numbers, you're not reading these boards enough.

Well, coming up with the next "big bang" idea for tech obviously isn't an easy job. However, people ARE getting tired of offshoring being the catchall, but that isn't any secret to anyone. I had heard rumors many many many years ago that individuals in R&D were getting upset because their inventions weren't getting visibility. Has to produce a profit. The one thing that I was getting the most tired of was blaming the employees. I didn't work in R&D, you didn't HIRE an R&D person for my job title, so why are you taking it out on me? I never claimed to be an invention person, so, that might mean that you know who you hired. We were lucky to have the job, yes, but at some place and space you have to evaluate if you want to save yourself or try and save the business.

Sooooooooooooooooooo, a really large part of me sez "stop blaming your employees" for the company's problems. You want your employees to trust that you are doing the best that you can. Well, guess what? We want you to trust that we are doing the best that we can, too.

That would be a relationship based on a mutual respect.

Disclaimer: Every company, not unlike every family, has their own form of dysfunction. You either accept it or you don't. There is no perfect job, no perfect company, no perfect family.

I have been watching this type of "disruption" occur in the United States since I was about 2 years old and I have a fantastic memory, I've discovered. I was tired of it when I was 2. You get even more tired of it at 52.

It's disruptive technology. Disruption and Creative Destruction.

The great railway system surely disrupted the horse and buggy. The automobile surely disrupted the railway travel usage (ref Pullman Strike). Commercial aircraft travel surely disrupted automobile travel. So, the personal computing movement that we all benefited from so much was also a disruptor. It disrupted big data mainframe systems. So, you are seeing some of that occur to your own marketplace over the last 10 year period.

So, if this is as old as time - why accuse your employees of having a "feeling and sense of entitlement" to a job in this country? Oh wait a minute, we changed that to "being the best employees in the world".

This is how we developed Social Services in this country. You have a Democrat to THANK for the Social Security system that is currently in place.

I am just not a believer that M&A's automatically gives one the right to walk into the company and blatantly disrespect those who were giving their lives to their cause. Employees make sacrifices too. Like I said, it's really unfortunate that not ALL of the employees can leave with their fond memories in tact, but at least I remember I had some.

You have to get "better" at exiting your people. This is why some are such advocates for public transportation and won't buy automobiles. There's a lot of hurt feelings. You could file a lawsuit and might even win it, but no one works for free, so it all depends on how you want to spend your money and time.

Money matters to the business, right? All about money? Money matters to my family. Okay, let me repeat that to you in a way that helps you to really understand it. MONEY REALLY MATTERS TO MY FAMILY TOO.

I think I'll go have some real fun somewhere else. I somehow feel like I deserve it.

Yeah, it's as old as time, which is why it gets really confusing when people act like such giant jerks in the workplace over it. Okay, YOU get to fight for your JOB but this other person over here DOESN'T. THEY are HELD to a HIGHER standard and get to play doormat.

I DON'T DO DOORMAT. MONEY MATTERS TO MY FAMILY TOO.

I still think that if she could have fixed Carly and Mark's mess she would have. But it just wasn't to be. The two new companies will drift off into the sunset with the name only. Think Packard Bell.

I think you have to start with Carly. Meg is not the only one.
