Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Employee Age and Layoffs

From observations in Islandia, the layoff affected mostly older employees (50+), especially those who have been at CA for over 10 years. No younger employees were laid off.

The company says it wants to hire hundreds of new employees with modern skill sets. This appears to be code for younger and cheaper.

In the CA's layoffs women are always the first target. I have witnessed bosses who have sacrificed women who are hardworking , very smart, and very experienced to be able to keep their males' job, although managers know those men are false stars. Very unfair.

The trend is people older than 50, and single women ( doesn't matter the age) with more than 10 years of service . of course there is an exception , brown noses are not touched.

........I talked to several affected colleagues, all had 10-30 years with CA and were between 54 and 62 - so get your own impression....

Perhaps people should wait before hiring lawyers until they see the sheet with all the ages of people laid off that they are required by law to provide. When I was laid off they gave me this sheet and it had people of all ages being laid off. I know many people still at CA in Islandia and most of them are over 50 if not over 60 by now, look around the Islandia campus, the only young people you see are the tenants.

I don’t think you can sign away EEOC rights, even for severance, without some specific clauses and consideration.

It’s widely known that CA pays 2 weeks per year, so if they invoke an ADEA waiver they will need to pay extra.

That's why you have to sign on the dotted line to get your severance. No lawsuits allowed without forgoing the severance.

If that’s the case CA better be careful against discrimination lawsuits.
