Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

Any layoffs outside of US?

It seems to me that once again we get to pay the price for the fact that other countries have better legal protection for workers than we do.

From what I'm seeing only US employees are being affected by this round of layoffs and everybody else is safe - once again!

How is this fair?

Agree with previous posters. It’s comparing apples to oranges, if you’re trying to think about it in terms of fairness. The US is not reflective of how teams are structured in other markets.

They are being hit in other ways, with offices slowly being phased out. Agree with the previous poster, compared to the US they are very scaled down and lean.

The US teams are massively inflated. A lot of the teams outside of the US can sometimes only have one or two people per department. Also, Viacom and VIMN are two separate entities.
