Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Don't stay at DST

Some of the names and positions I saw cut makes me believe they didn't spend much time thinking of who or how many and where they need to run the biz. Many clients are on long term deals. The systems run and the revenue comes in. Stone probably wants a skeleton crew to triage systems probs and do must have enhancements. The rest can be cut and the revenue still comes in. He needs Winchester data center and some of the staff, but buildings full of people in KC could be cut any replaced with people offshore over time. or quickly. Looks like DST over 10 years cut around 5000 domestically and added 7000 off shore. Stone will keep going only more ruthless. In a Forbes interview years ago he said he was driven to be rich. He didn't say he values building a community oriented local company for sure.

Dont Stay There.

Yes, it's probably best to look for new work. The changes in store seem like the typical response, We need a nimble workforce, translation is a smaller group who can handle majority of the work. It's only the start. They cut 6% but that's a moving target.

Don’t Stay There, customers will complain but what are they suppose to do. The clients will be serviced by ssnc.

Honestly, their clients could care less how SS&C manages their employees as long as they keep their promises to them regarding their service delivery and pricing. They promise their clients everything to win the business and then the employees are left to burn to meet those promises. If you don’t perform and deliver (and put in the extra hours to do it), you don’t last long there, and they easily replace you. Just a bad place to work due to the managment philosophy there. Run fast if you are there.

Laid off, not layed off.

The so called problem people that were layed off were given a gift! Who I ask who, would want to work for a company that treats their employees with no decency or respect. I chuckle at these posts. Mr Stone, Mr Geli and the rest of the dysfunctional DST/SS & C circus, your clients are watching.

I don't completely agree that they layoffs "got rid of problem people". That would imply that there was a hit list and unless there's proof, then it's simply speculation. Rumor has it that more layoffs will come in October, so if they've gotten rid of the "problem people", why would there be a need for more layoffs?

The problem is SS&C. I used to work for them, and am so glad I left them. It’s not just Stone, it’s management under him too. It’s all about the stock price. You will get more and more work with less resources. They promise clients things they don’t have built yet in order to win the business and then expect you to pick up the slack while they take their time to build what they promised. I used to work with folks at DST as we outsourced our fund shareholder services to them...fine people who seemed to really like their jobs. Don’t think that’ll be the case once SS&C folks hover over your shoulders. Good luck to those that stay, but I would run, and run fast!!

Your an idiot with your vulgar language. Don’t watch the site if it bothers you - looks like they missed one of the “problem” people

frf - The parent comment is completely reasonable, and probably accurate. Your response on the other hand is stupid and mean. Why don't you seek help for your obvious mental health issues?
