Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Helath insurance cancelled 4 days after layoff

I had to pay up front today at the doctor's instead of paying a statement in 60 days. Now I have to submit the bill myself and wait reimbursement, which can be done after they get around to sending me Cobra info and I send that back and coverage is started. DST is sh--ty about everything but I've heard of companies at least paying the following month's insurance to avoid coverage loss. They wanted people to work right up to the end of the month and then cut them. Evil greedy scum.

don't ever get sick!! even with health insurance deductibles and premiums are insanely expensive! you have to pay so much out of pocket before health insurance even kicks in.

plus, doctors love to prescribe medicine. most medicine has side effects, requiring more medicine.

stay healthy!!

If you are in Massachusetts, get health and dental insurance through Mass health Connector. you will pay based on your unemployment payment amount and it will be half the cost of Cobra (or even more than half the cost). Cobra is very expensive!!!

"Does anyone know when the severance package is supposed to be paid out?"

You can call the number provided and they will tell you roughly.

If you got the papers sent back right away I would expect it July 27 or Aug 10th.

I called DST people Center. They claim that the deductions were for June insurance and June parking. Therefore they do not owe us anything further.

DST did not give you six month insurance money. They gave you six months of THEIR contribution towards your insurance while you are working. Big difference.

I agree adding money to package to cover insurance is a nice touch. However based on cobra cost it covers more like 3.5 months not 6 months.

It still sounds like they charged for the company health plan for the month of July in the last paycheck but canceled coverage immediately. Same with life insurance and other paid for coverage.

FYI in your layoff package they added the money to cover 6 month of insurance premiums. That should help alot

How can they deduct from your pay for benefits that they canceled? Premiums in the June paychecks should have been to cover July health benefits.

Did DST charged you in your final paycheck for Health care premiums?
