Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Not feeling better

I thought once layoffs are done I'll feel better, but somehow things are even worse now. With so many people gone, I suddenly feel like an intruder when I get to work. Now I'm dreading going to the office even more than I did before.

I guess I really need to start looking for a new job.

Yes more cuts are in the works. The managers are staying on until they get their severance packages. Most of the vp will be let go with generous severance stocks. The middle managers will also be cut in order to save money in the long run. That’s the Ss&C way. Soon the emails and logos will be coverted to ss&c and dst will be secondary. Ss&c will take the cash form dst subsidiaries.

I'm sorry you're having a bad week. Things will get better.

The only thing that we know for sure in life is that things will always change. You just have to appreciate the time you have with people...and your job. We're all at-will..in basically every aspect of life.

You can get fired at any time.

Your spouse can leave you.

You can find out you have pancreatic cancer and die in a year.

So all you can really do is appreciate the moment and know that it can be taken away. Life doesn't owe us anything.

Yup, get off your tush tush and get on it! We live in a cold capitalist society. The sooner you realize it’s all about the money, to hell with everything else, the better. Clarify expectations. Act like the machine that will eventually replace you if you don’t get off your a$$.

That's life. If you can't pick yourself up and roll with the punches, you're going to have a much harder time in other areas of your life. These co-workers didn't die, they got laid off and many will probably find better jobs and look back and realize what a favor DST did for them. They had the decision made for them.

Anyone who isn't looking for another job after this first wave of layoffs is seriously in an unhealthy way wrt to their job.

It's a job. All of you should always be ready to move on to the next job at any given time in life. It's called adapting to change and thriving in the process.

Only one thing constant in life, that's change.

Most of you fear change and it its making you undesirable as an employee.

It is tough. Yes you should start looking. There may not be any more layoffs but you don't know that for sure and you cannot know that. Realistically there will be more but no one knows for sure if or when. So if that is a stress it will not go away.

Either forget about it and ride the ride as long as it last or start looking for greener pastures now.

Ask yourself: If I was laid off in 1 or 2 months from now what would I do? If you do not have an answer that makes you comfortable I would really start job hunting.
