Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Remember, it's easier to land a better job when you already have a job...

So start looking, don't be complacent and then b--ch for the next 6 months until the next rumor of a layoff.

Take some accountability for your own peace and contentment in a job. You have choices, stay and worry about the next cut or go get a better job!!!

Yes, it's work, but it's worth it.

If you get laid to if you are less desirable and cannot negotiate as much or more salary.

Don't be lazy!!! Start interviewing now.

Disagree, if you are laid off you do not appear desperate at interviews. Layoffs are part of corporate America now. I'm glad I got the good severance package and I have planned financially for my future (past the package). I will find a job. I feel sorry for the folks left there. It's uglier than I imagined. They set people up to be unhappy enough to quit (so they won't have to pay out). Management will be dealing with angry clients. But people have bills to pay and will get through this, one way or another. DST was a good place and still has great people. B.S. and S.H. can rot.

I've already got 2 interviews lined up for next week and just submitted 10 more applications for jobs. I'm not hanging around until the next layoff, worrying about how I'm going to pay my bills. And I have another child on the way, so I'm motivated to get a better job with better pay. I've been losing sleep and eating unhealthy worrying about all this for months. I'm done. I'm just glad I have my job so I don't look like a total loser and desperate in my interviews.

DST is not going to survive and neither are the employees.

You always have a better chance getting a new, better job, when you already have a job. When you are unexpectedly unemployed, you present as desperate at job interviews.

If you are smart, you look for a new job when you still have a job and you are in a better position to negotiate a better salary than when you are unemployed. When you are unemployed, a potential employer will pay you lower than if you still had a job.
