Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Average age of those laid off

Can we please post the age of those we know were laid off here?

So far the people I've seen walked out have all been over forty, some of them over fifty.

It looks like to me that the new owners are taking this as an opportunity to get rid of all the older and higher paid employees, which would constitute as age discrimination.

Can anything be done if this proves to be true?

If you are over 40 and laid off, check your packet. It has all titles and ages of those laid off.

52, worked there 19 years 5 as a contractor, last 14 full time. In my TRAC area that I know of, everyone was over 40 with at least 10 years of experience.

Also consider those that are older often make more money - making them a financial target rather than (or in addition to) any indication of ageism.
