Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Tomorrow's layoffs at DST

It sounds like the former Enterprise Services group and the Financial Services group will take a lot of that reduction. That means KC and Boston area, but it’s hard to tell from rumors whether the offshore teams are impacted.

Where did you hear that Enterprise Services group will be among those hit the hardest?

Funny to see the deniers.

Today, we will be implementing a reduction in force of approximately 6% of the DST workforce. While difficult to part with many good people, it is a necessary step to improve customer satisfaction, create a more nimble organization and prepare for future opportunities of our combined company. The goal is to be a more efficient and effective organization with a heightened focus on client service.

The Human Resources team and designated leaders are meeting with all impacted parties to help them through this transition. DST is providing severance packages and other assistance to impacted employees.

In the days ahead, your leadership team will provide you with additional information about specific organizational changes. Until then, please focus on your projects and providing clients with your high level of service and expertise.

This announcement may draw attention from outside parties, including members of the press. All media inquiries should be sent to Jen Molgano, Public Relations, at jmolgano@sscinc.com or by phone (617) 648-0948.

We will be hosting a Town Hall very soon. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience and dedication as we create and maintain a healthy and sustainable business together.

I worked for DST for 16 years, and began making my plans for exit as soon as Tom McDonnell retired, as I knew the company was headed for the toilet, and it's best days were far behind. I was exactly right. I've watched some close friends who didn't have the guts to leave and find something better get laid off left and right. Why people won't take control of their careers and not leave the decision to someone else is beyond me. If they don't whack you today, GET OUT. Of course, if you've stuck around this long, you're probably too gutless to leave on your own and will just wait until they punt you out the door.

So much of this is speculation, guessing, and rumors. But if M. Mann is going out the door, I guess that means enterprise services is taking a hit. Plus, there’s the possibility of systems duplications for accounting systems, etc. Of course, there has been no official communication of any details, and there probably won’t be. There likely will be a press release that says x number of people were terminated world wide. We’ll find details from whoever is left, just like previous reductions.

Of course most people will not post their source here. If people are given information by senior leaders, or their managers, or even if they have access to it in their normal course of business, it would not be wise to reveal that here. It could jeopardize their job & limit the information that is shared with them in the future. Just because a rumor that someone posts here doesn’t turn out to be true, does not mean they were sensationalizing information or trying to panic people. Layoff dates change, layoff numbers change, it doesn’t mean that they are not happening. If someone thinks posters who share information here are just spreading lies, then they should not feel compelled to return to the site. Most people who share bits of information here are just trying to help others, so they are not caught off guard.

To the previous comment, because most of the information on here is completely false.

How come nobody posts where they heard their news from? It would go a long way to mention that in one of these posts

I think most of you like to spread rumors and stir the pot.

Fact is, none of you know what the actually going to happen, so STFU.

Funny, I heard the exact opposite. I heard that DST was much more focused on offshoring and SS&C is less tied to it.

I didnt post that but I heard ssnc is high on offshore. So of course they wont want to cut them. Heard on the others through various management channels through the grapevine.
