Wow. The most recent poster must have worked for the same PM I did. Most PM’s are a joke. They get paid a Kings ransom, and don’t do squat. They make friends with the golf crowd in the office, and bash the ones who actually work. My PM (again, probably the same one mentioned in the most recent post): also outed someone, he and his wife rang up ridiculous bar tabs and left his people to pay for them, made bogus accusations against employees, took vacations without letting anyone know he’d be gone, got mad when someone below him was asked to be a subject matter expert (meaning not him), accused others of s-xual harassment when he was probably guilty of it himself, etc. People higher up knew he did these things, and did nothing about it. People who had these things happen to them couldn’t say anything because they would receive more grief if they did from the PM, and management would look at you like a trouble maker. I called out the PM about his bar tab (because I got stuck with it twice), and he got extremely defensive and denied it happened. Even though everyone else there witnessed it. I left the company several years ago because of things like this. In regards to the top 100 companies achievement, they rig that every year. Only a select few of the “Go KMX” crowd get the surveys. In my office, nobody ever got a survey. Not surprising considering the PM and his shenanigans. Oh yeah, and there was one year they gave us a chance to rate our PM. I actually gave him a neutral rating for fear of retribution by him. Others rated him poorly, and I got accused of being one of them. Corporate said it would be no big deal and nothing would come of it, but I was accused in a closed door meeting, then ridiculed by my PM for months after that. Any chance he had to come down on me or accuse me of something, he did. None of which were accurate. CarMax was a great company to work for in the early days. Guys like my PM ruined it.
RVPs at the home office last week. Senior manager meetings this week....
Not surprised. Worked for the company for 8+ years. They keep people like $hit pm’s who have been around forever, but get rid of good people or force good people out. My pm was a joke. He should have been fired for numerous incidents (s-xual harassment, outing an employee, ringing up big bar tabs then walking out without paying and leaving his employees to cover him, etc etc etc). Instead of firing him, they moved him to a cushy spot in FL to work the rest of his career collecting his six figure salary. They scoff at competition, but doing this will hurt them in the long run. The buyers were the life blood of the company.
I’ve heard the number of layoffs is closer to 400 in June. Can anyone confirm?
2 weeks + 1 week for every year of service
What is the severance, what does it lool like? I'm asking for a friend 😉
I cant wait til companies like carvana start really hurting carmax margins. Meanwhile management in the purchasing dept is bs, Midwest region pms and rvp are complete morons. everyone only covers their own butts and have no problem putting you down so they can get ahead further. Sad that carmax is considered top 100 companies to work for in the us. Crappy hours, dumb management, and you can add greedy to the list
They found a faster and cheaper way to appraise cars everyday
Buyers were let go so hourly employees could be brought in. Not a good business practice from those loyal ones that got cut.
76 merchandising employees at 58 locations. Gotta keep those investors happy! It never ends with these big corporations. Ring every last cent.
Why are you so mad, you seem touchy
Apparently they fired close to 30% of their merchandising department, just to make even more profit
Sorry to here that @xla
It’s true and happened to me. Sh-- company to work for
Its true
