Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Depressed because you got laid off? SDI Benefits versus Unemployment Benefits

Hi All,

Not sure if the moderators will let this post stay, however, I wanted to write to all of you who have been recently laid off from the Q.

Most of you have heard of Unemployment Benefits. To make it short and sweet you are looking at 450.00 a week and those benefits are taxable. The maximum length of benefits is 26 weeks.

On the other hand - most of you HAVE NOT heard of SDI benefits here in California. Those benefits pay up to 1216.00 per week for up to 52 weeks and depending on how you file - they can be nontaxable. This is because they can be viewed as medical benefits.

So - how can you get your SDI benefits? You have to be suffering from a medical condition and that is where I help.

I run a business that specializes in helping people obtain their SDI benefits specifically for depression. If you have been laid off and are depressed about it come and talk with me.

Also - if you have a mortgage and are currently on unemployment - you should look at the save your home program here in California. The program is wrapping up on June 29th so hurry over there.

Basically they will pay your mortgage for up to 18 months or 54k as long as you are unemployed and drawing unemployment benefits.

I don't mind at all. Feel free to report us. You have my name, the company name, our website and a phone number where you can speak directly to me.

Just because you don't agree and throw around your threats doesn't take away from the fact that we offer a legal and very needed service here in the State.

I really wish YOU would have offered all the people who are effected by the Qualcomm layoffs some other alternatives to the help that I have offered. Instead you throw around threats and offer no help. Very big of you.

To the OP, I am sure you won't mind being reported to the BBB, and to the appropriate local, State, and Federal authorities for Conspiracy to Commit Fraud, Fraud, Wire Fraud, the Use of a Computer to Commit Fraud, and other statutes, that I am sure will result in hefty fines and a lengthy jail sentence. Leave the Qualcomm employees alone. They already have enough on their mind than worrying about going to prison.

There are only 5 States that have a program like this. They are California, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. Puerto Rico as well.

As far as criteria and benefits - I am not that sure. I do know that California has the best benefits of all of them.

@cag good post - my wife struggled with anxiety and panic attacks, got cut by IBM in 2008, we never knew about this. The layoff (they call it a resource action or RA) triggered a depression bout that took alomost two years to resolve. I wish we had ur swevice at the time - anyhow, you help people and if you make a buck along the way good for u.

Mike - aside from Cali - can this work in any other states. If yes please list them and we will spread the word and your contact info on state specific forums.

Thanks Mike for sharing this. I have lived in California for 30 plus years and battled with depression for even longer. None of my doctors nor HR has ever told me about this program. Thanks again.

Yes - we handle the medical examination process as well as the ongoing treatment. I currently work with 5 licensed psychologists here in the State of California.

Thanks for asking.

Hi Michael,

Do you provide medical examination, or does this have to be obtained separately?

Disability is available to you whether you are employed or not. As a matter of fact if you are on federal family leave it may be because you at disabled. California is one a a few states that actually pay for short term disability on top of federally available disbiloty. California is easier than federal. Federal can take several years to be approved and 90% of cases are denied in the first go around. The state has a much more effient system.

This is seriously some sorry a-- chicken sh--. Depression is a diagnosed mental illness. Not an excuse to have some f---ing a--hole help you game the system because you were layed off. I have been suffering from depression for over 30 years. Have been in hospitalized for depression, under the care of a psychiatrist, and on antidepressants. It is a serious illness that results in self harming, alcoholism, drug abuse, loss of employment, family, friendships, and can result in suicide. The OP is a lowly scumbag looking to cash-in on others misfortune. He is not looking to help anyone, other than commit fraud. So to the OP go peddle your b---s--- somewhere esle.

OP - we had posts like this before - mods will let it stand as long as you are not excessively advertising (e.g., posting on other forums or having multiple posts etc). there was a guy from qtc that opened up his own company and he'd occasionaly post about his recruiting (needed a bunch of testers) - mods never removed his stuff - i just checked the tos and it looks like htey are ok as long as you are not doing it 'excessively'

Great question - As I understand it - most of you received a 60 to 120 severance package. That means you are still being paid and thus employed. Because of that none of you will be eligible for unemployment nor SDI benefits until you guys receive your last paycheck. So in your particular case you will not be filing for either benefit until August 1.

In your case - in everyones case for this matter - you seriously want to consider your filing order. If you file for SDI benefits FIRST, then the SDI benefits are viewed as medical benefits. Because of that, they are nontaxable. If you file for unemployment benefits first and use even one dollar of the unemployment benefits and then later file for SDI - under that scenario they are viewed as an extension of your unemployment benefits and because of that, they are taxable.

Hope that answers your question.

Michael - I'd need to do this before they lay me off? Right?

For example, if I was given a 60 days notice and if my termination day is August 1st, can I file for a depression based SDI now?

Thanks for sharing this
