Are you hoping we get acquired by Qualcomm or that sale does not happen?
I'm personally torn. i'm not sure we can survive in the long run without Qualcomm, but I know the acquisition will come with major layoffs and that very few people will be safe from it.
I was just wondering what's the preferred option on this board.
Real reorg hasn't occurred yet because NXP is waiting for the takeover of QCOM. FSL acquisition was part of this plan. If takeover is approved the real planned slaughter will start after this. If not that will happen anyway. Everywhere in the company is a toxic environment now, waiting for real axe. only 3 weeks left until 25th July.
I agree, but the reorganizations and shakeups always bring the crap to the surface. I have always seen a company less capable after a reorg than before it - the fact that NXP and FSL have had so many reorgs since spinning out from Philips and Motorola has led both of them to focus of cost cutting (after being loaded with finance debt). It has lead to many of the most capable / expensive people moving on to other companies so we are left with some pretty bad people heading org units. The hope people had when NXP took over FSL was that they would get rid of this layer of management. The hope people had for Qualcomm was they would do the same since NXP didn't. At some point the rubber hits the road. Until then keep your heads down as the guys making the decisions scramble to save their butts.
The major distraction with these acquisitions are the reorganizations. They cause nothing but confusion.

Well there was a reason Philips went a different direction. Any CEO who comes into this sector expecting continuous 10% growth or market leadership is full of it.
I don't think it matters - major layoffs are coming anyway. Looking at recent Quarterly reports and the news articles NXP stock will tank if it doesn't happen. In one way since both companies are screwed up its a good match. NXP should have got a new CEO years ago.
