Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

New compensation plan coming next week

Some bullet points,

  • those of you making big money, get ready to take a cut

  • increases/decreases will occur on every 6 month eval

-PDRs will be part of your eval and will make or break your raise or employment in dire circumstances

  • increases will be 5k for lowest salary employees and will tier down the higher your base salary

-managers can bonus by hitting team goals

  • check-ins will occur every 30 days. If you're not on track for your goals after 90 days you will be termed, no buyouts

There's more but those are the big ones

PDR is Personally developed referral, it means you are asking for referrals from current students, visitors to the campus, anyone in the public, etc... Drumming up business basically

This is not like the old matrix system bc when I worked there they had it. You got a certain number of points per student enrolled, 2 for local general, 3 for local high school, 4 for zone b high school etc. My salary went from 44 to 80 K in a year and a half. So they used positive reinforcement to incentives ADAs. And I have to say back in the day Admissions was a propaganda mill. Day in and day out we were told about all the people we were helping. I was young at the time and thought, great, everybody wins. Then the Senate investigation report was published on line. Oh, the horror. Then the matrix went out the window and the negative reinforcement cycle began, bully managers, thinly veiled threats, that whole nightmare that still goes on today I'm told. Threatening someone's employment and belittling them in sales meetings to get people to perform out of shame and fear is just as egregious as using money to incentives people bc fear is a powerful motivator. Unqualified candidates are still enrolled. And as for the PDR thing, what a joke. It will never work bc it never did. My two cents anyway.

Does this apply to hourly positions or just salary positions? I heard that it has already rolled out for some departments, really would like to see a raise personally but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Time to form a union, the U word always scares them.

There are no facts out yet. Even high level employees, and those who normally have “inside info” really dont know. Should have final answer next friday when pay session closes.

There's no law about it as long as they pay minimum wage. Without a union, it's really easy to lower salaries. People are forced to take pay cuts all the time in the real world.

So what's big money? How do they plan to legally cut salaries?! Layoff and hire back at less? I don't see a legal justification for taking away a salary.

Sounds like admissions is going to become the lead company. They can't make the comp plan about enrollments legally so they're going to add the lead responsibility to admissions and make it all about that. Admissions will be creating the leads, enrolling students, AND be academic counselors for 6 weeks, all while acting as puedo finance counselors. But if you don't get people to give up other people's information, you're out.

The new comp is suppose to be coming soon. From what I understand the people that have been there for awhile will be getting a pay cut and the ones that have been there for like 5 or 6 years will FINALLY get a raise. Also the job expectations will increase. In my opinion Admissions has way too much responsibility and are held to very high and unreasonable standards. You best believe I will be blowing the whistle if the new plan has anything to do with how many students you sit. This organization really needs to look at what’s best for students and employees. The whole non-profit thing is a joke.

True words. Going to 16 week semesters, 3 semesters a year. Still accelerated, different format. 2 credit hour general education, 4 & 8 week classes.

"Art Institutes go In quarters not semesters so students can graduate in 3 years instead of 4."

Or so most don't graduate at all.

And you must be crazy.

Schools can not be in same week configurations. Art Institutes are in quarters not semesters. They go year round so students can earn a degree in 3 years instead of four. Associates in 6 quarters or year and a half, most drag it out a liitle longer because they work, do internships and have family commitments. To change the week configurations there are so many hurdles to jump through. Each state and accrediting body has to approve changes and they have their own requirements and limitations. It is even difficult to change course titles and descriptions without lots of justification and when you do, the students who currently enrolled have to be taught out in the old programs. It takes years to make these kind of changes, but you would know that if you actually were someone in education. Also it is illegal to get bonuses based on enrolling students. That was part of the problems in the early 2000s. Is there anything posted on these sites anymore that is of any merit? Just a bunch of hot air.

Do not be afraid.

Step into the personally developed referral beam.

Ahh. To finally be able to live without the pangs of conscience.

FREEDOM AT LAST!

Some new info on compensation: starting Winter 2019 all DCEH schools will be going to a 16 week semester. This is not anything Top Secret as it has been in the works for several months. The action is to bring all capuses in sync. Also all course will be brought into line so all are in conformance with each other.

More fake employment stats, I am sure. Keep preying on the poor and uneducated with promises of jobs in such ridiculous areas as photography and game arts. So glad to be out of this unethical place.

Conjectures based on rumors, none of that is fact.

Will the highest paid reps get a paycut; probably.

Will the people who havent gotten a raise since starting 2-3 years ago get one? Yes

Id imagine profs and support staff will get % increases. Front line employees will have metrics for further raises.

Pay could fluctuate every 6 months based on what?

I have a PPAR every year, not 6 months...

And again... what is PDR?

Thank you.

That will be against federal regulations to base raises off how many students you enroll! This is bull

This post makes no sense. Take a cut for "big money" yet increase 5k down based on tier, and the increase or decrease every 6 months. So the Lord give it and take it away? This sounds like the structure that got EDMC in trouble before with lawsuits. Paying for quantity of students. Sounds very Christian for a students future to be tied to my salary.

So everyone is getting raises no closures, no layoffs I'll believe it when I see it.
