Doing a Google search (ADP layoffs)...I just found this blog!
I took the ER very early when offered and so did most of us in mainframe programming.
We are mostly over 55 with many years with ADP (I started in 1992)
The BAD news----
ADP Upper management has no idea what they are doing letting go of COBOL programmers.
How can any company replace experienced people who know COBOL, ASSEMBLER, REXX, SAS, DB2, CICS, TSO, etc, etc.? No company can....none. We are worth our weight in gold. As I read another mainframes response, he/she is 100% correct. ADP core business is payroll..(Edit/Net/Wrap) sound familiar? If not, then you have no idea what drives ADP software empire....millions of lines of code.
ADP will never be able to build, maintain, modify its core software business because we are going
and new hires do not have the knowledge or experience to step in. NONE!
The GOOD news---
ADP will reap what it has sown......believe me, just give it time.
. Etc.
