The motives behind these firings look a bit fishy. Employees fired here are being replaced by cheaper h1b candidates brought from India. That indicates a potential abuse and manipulation. Bringing candidates for replacement is not legal. Some of us grouped and contacted a lawfirm. We will need more stories to make it a strong case. we will contact some of the victims in the coming days for their stories. Anonymity will be maintained until we got a proper case. We are also working on getting support from media. If there is an abuse, it shouldn’t go unnoticed by the nation.

In order to file a TAA Petition for benefits, we will need at least 3 people to support the petition. Also, someone mentioned creating a Facebook Group in order gather information and communicate information. I was a part of the March 2018 Layoff and have taken the initiative to setup a private group communication as an initial step.
I have created a "Closed Group" on Facebook for this purpose.
Search for the Facebook Group - Teradata Layoff and request to join.
Joining the group does not assume participation or agreement towards TAA Petition etc.; simply a way to communicate in a private environment to anyone who has been laid-off from Teradata in the last year.
Thx. See Thomson Reuters was certified last month. State Workforce Office filed the petition for the exworkers. Good news for others in our circle of friends who had Thomson Reuters jobs moved to Europe. Maybe exworkers at TD will do it too.

TONS of BENEFITS just waiting for you to grab. But you write here instead of taking action. It is a non-Teradata program so okay to apply for certification. Look at other certified companies by searching by company name https://www.doleta.gov/tradeact/petitioners/taa_search_form.cfm
Search on companies like: GE, Bank of America, JP Morgan, ADP, Qualcomm, and others.
Many times companies say, they are paying a competitive salary to the H1b candidates , so there was no abuse. May be true, but for sure, way less than what they paid to those were fired, so that’s a saving. Additionally they do not have to pay 401k and other expensive benefits to the H1b candidates, that’s again a big saving. Plus no bench time pay between the projects. The candidates are sent back if there is a gap, that way are way cheaper when on the bench. Companies enjoy these big benefits by replacing locals with H1B candidates.
The great news is, you can report this to the immigration authorities by sending an email to reportH1Babuse@uscis.dhs.gov, if you think there was a possible abuse.

I have also observed this on my team. We recently let go few folks on the team and it is been just a couple of months and they just brought someone from India to replace this position. It sounds few more H1Bs from India are coming!
