Thread regarding ADP layoffs

From the former Associate

Too many of you, or perhaps its the same person who responds to all of these posts, are looking at this through a narrow lens of the impact to you personally. ADP needs to fix their products, not protect a bunch of associates who are paid extremely well to support those crappy products. The fix is in building great products that don't need all of this support. Will they fix the products in time after gutting the support structure? Time will tell, but the fact is that ADP was fat with excess cost due to crappy products that needed too much support to keep them going and clients happy. And, to say 100% of long term associates are going to be displaced kills your credibility... no where near that number even took early retirement. I think it's closer to 50%, and that's just the over 55 crowd. Please stop with the fear mongering. Get out if you think you are going to be let go, or wait for the severance, but at least be honest with people reading this. And if you don't know the facts, just say that, and that's really what you should say based on your posts.

@T0ipGYN-6llt said what needed to be said.

The name of this website is THE LAYOFF!!! It is a forum to discuss being layed off which is not a pleasant experience. Why would anyone who posts here be expected to give undeserved praise to a company who has no respect for knowledgeable tenured associates who are being let go after dedicating many years to ADP. Starting over to earning a living in your mid 50's isn't that easy you mindless idiot! Go find a website that sings the praises of ADP to make your positive and "I love ADP" remarks or better yet if you're sick of the negativity toward ADP get off of this website - turn your computer off and get a life.

The numbers may speak for themselves, but how is ADP going to compete with its competitors on a long term basis with a substandard, low wage workforce that has no incentive to work hard or even to stay in their jobs when they can earn as much or more money at other companies doing work that is far easier?

After comparing today’s stock prices with 2 NAS competitors, I’d say the numbers speak for themselves:

Whomever posted this, let me help with understanding how to value a company. Stock price is not an indication of health of a company at all. It's almost irrelevant. Stock price X number of outstanding stocks is relevant. Direction of the stock price is as well. I filled in the blanks below. ADP is by far the biggest of the three, by far the most profitable and is seeing some strong stock price increases. Both WD and Ulti have been doing exceptionally well over the past 6-7 years targeting the up-market where ADP is weakest and putting a lot of pressure on ADP's future prospects in that segment. In the down-market and PEO, ADP is killing the competition. The up-market accounts for roughly 20% of ADP's revenue so overall ADP is very healthy financially, but struggling mightily against WD and Ulti and others.

ADP 127.07, founded in 1949 (Mkt Cap $56.8B, 52 week low $98.44, PE Ratio 33.3 which is somewhat high for an established company like ADP. Normally ranges from low 20's to mid-30's and was as high as low 40's back in the early 2000's)

Ultimate 260.84, founded in 1990 (Mkt Cap $8.1B, 52 week low $181.59, PE Ratio 576.43. this is an indication of very low profitability but the market puts a lot of value in their ability to become profitable in the future)

Workday 133.43, founded in 2005 (Mkt Cap $28.9B, 52 week low $92.79, Not profitable yet so no PE Ratio but the high market cap means the market believes they will become profitable in the future)

ADP Corporate Social Media Trolling this Site? There was a time ADP Corporate had THICK Skin and was an Industry Leader. Now they want to be a follower of Google or Apple, but on the cheap, the median pay for developers at those 2 company's is 2x the pay ADP offers, so those that CLAIM over priced didn't do their research. Being worried about Social Media over Client Service and Retention is weak at best. That former CEO who had to resign created this mess by changing the paradigm in ADP's Philosophy and Approach.

I’ve been hearing people say that ADP has been disposing their tenured associates, and in turn, has trained these associates to go work for ADP competitors.

After comparing today’s stock prices with 2 NAS competitors, I’d say the numbers speak for themselves:

ADP 127.07, founded in 1949

Ultimate 260.84, founded in 1990

Workday 133.43, founded in 2005

I’m sure competitors love ADP’s practice of getting rid of of their greatest asset.... knowledgeable associates.

Yeah! Pissy little people! No one cares about you and certainly no one cares as long as it doesn't affect them personally! So just put positive uplifting motivational fake news here so that upper management gets their golden parachutes. We wouldn't want to have any facts come out that taint the board members circle of greed.

Who cares about ADP reputation. They are the ones screwing the tenure employees. They will never recoup the years of knowledge that these people had. I would not recommend ADP to anyone even those in the new “MEGA” locations. They will struggle since no one will be able to help them. Clients will leave in droves

The last seven years working there were horrible. I am glad they laid me off. I do not give a crap about their reputation I only feel for those that did not quality for the ERP. All I can figure is ADP got tired of the bad press on this site and decided to try to do some damage control.

To the person who commented "Let's be careful with our comments on this site. ADP s reputation is at stake", For you information, this a blog about layoffs which is hardly a topic to post nice things about. If there were any "complimentary" posts about ADP, then people would be making them so take your Pollyanna attitude and move on. If you're still employed there and think your job is not at stake, then you must be relatively new and in one of the new mega centers. I spent almost 30 years at ADP and it was a good career until they told me "buh bye". I'm glad to be out of there because lately it was a guessing game on when the ax was going to fall. They'll never recoup the knowledge they have lost and are currently losing. Their mainframe system is very detailed and complex. Yes, they're moving away from it but it certainly isn't going to happen overnight as some are suggesting.

Plain and simple......I worked for Corp Roseland ADP for 31 years in the IT realm and I know what kind of company ADP was for DECADES and what ADP has become since 2011. ADP deserves ALL the bad replies it gets on this sites.....I think most former long term employees on this blog site are actually holding back the real negative stuff ......ADP is now the worst possible workplace......it will not survive this talent loss. Give it time.......

Let's be careful with our comments on this site. ADP s reputation is at stake. The company needs to attract people to employ. Most of the posts on this site are uncomplimentary to ADP, which may cause people who are thinking about working for this company and see this site to think twice before accepting employment. It can also create a bad impression among current employees who see this site.

So all of you former employees, whether you were laid off or not, please cool it with your snide comments. You don't work for ADP anymore. Please move on with your lives and leave ADP alone.

Why should people only post nice things about ADP. These post are from the associates that are being affected by the buildings closing and being let go. ADP used to be a very good company to work for years ago. That’s why their are so many tenured employees. Now they are being forced out for new employees at the new locations.
