Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Be ready to be walked out if you give notice

We lost two of the more well respected people in our group. One gave her two week notice on a Friday just before the end of January. She ended up getting a call at home on Sunday night informing her she wouldn't be allowed in the building come Monday. That decision came back at management as she had client tasks no one was familiar with. Last Monday another person gave her notice and after 17+ years she was given 20 minutes to gather her things and exit the building while security stood nearby, but the three managers nearby disappeared until after she left. If your going to give notice be prepared to be asked to leave.

Just wanted to reiterate what @T4JUMpC-1qvv said. I've seen this happen at least twice as well. For some reason, notice equals being escorted out immediately. Paranoia or something else, I don't know.

Had an associate that gave 3 weeks notice earlier this year. They started short timing it immediately. It was so bad, that we asked HR if we could just buy her out and be done with it. We were told “no” because by the time the paperwork was all signed, the 3 weeks would already be up.

the way to propeerly quit is to...

-- line up new job and start date

-- delete all files and emails you no longer need - refrain from sending any personal emails from work email months beforehand

-- clean out office/desk (slowly)

-- DO NOT TELL ANYONE... because you don't really have any friends at work, don't fool yourself ever about that, people will throw you under the bus to save themselves and then invite you to lunch...

-- on your last day send a your boss and HR rep a goodbye/resignation email, and then send a blast goodbye email to the group you want to say goodbye to

-- proceed to enjoy the start of your new life and new job

-- keep professional contacts via LinkedIn, if you must, but remember, its a small world, people talk and people talk behind your back. Share no information with your old co-workers about your new job until you are a year into new job and settled. You do not need the negative energy of old co-workers who are miserable and unhappy that you made your way out, and trust me they are not truly happy for you.

You're welcome.

um, that's standard procedure. why would you want to stick around after quitting? makes no sense and they don't want you there once you quit.

sometimes the stupidity on this forum frightens me. people can't be this stupid not to understand giving two weeks notice is just a gesture of formality. two weeks notice = I quit.

if it were my company, I'd do the same.
