Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

How cruel is this?

Seriously, how cruel is it to let us know a huge round of layoffs is coming and then provide us with no details on who will be laid off and when exactly?

Why couldn't they have waited with the announcement until they had more details?

Next several weeks will be a nightmare for all of us.

If you've been told there WILL be layoffs that's more info than they gave for the 9/1/17 layoffs.

If they said 800...pretty sure it will be more.

If you get hit, there IS life on the outside. And it's good. Good luck all.

A project called T2 was created last year to consolidate sites and cut heads. They know who’s staying and who’s not. Company strategy is to trim and prop for a sale and mgmt team cashed out. Look at the talent they have on leveraged buy out side in legal.

They have been working on this list for a while.

That had that list ready a long time ago and was just waiting to execute. If your product doesn't fit the modern software factory profile or produce steady revenue now start hitting that internal job listing if you want to stay.

You would think they would need experts to implement SaaS supporting it would only lead to another offering if they had their eyes open.

Hopefully it will be quick.

They have a list and have checked it twice, and not everyone has been nice. Those who they want to get rid of and have made the list will find out in due time.

Why do you think they don't know? Of course they freaking know who's been laid off. And of course they're not going to tell you who the people are. That would be stupid. The layoffs have begun already fwiw. I also think it will be more than 800.

Not true. Revenue up, margins are good looks like Mike and his team will get their bonuses, more stock grants likely, etc. imagine executives forfeited stock when they let go employees. I know then CA would start to care about our careers. Until then they are in many ways motivated to terminate employees.

That is what I find highly suspicious. They announce cuts of 800 people and 160 million in costs for severance and office closures, yet are saying internally that they don't know what offices are closing or who is getting let go. How do you know the cost and count without know the who and where? What is more likely? That this was a well thought out move to reshape the company, or that some bean counter pulled number out of their rear end and said we have to cut this much to make next year look better and they're now working backwards to meet that target.

They had to announce it during the earnings call. The fact it was announced without specifics means they have been crunching numbers and looking how best to keep the stock price propped up.

This is typical of the classless management team at CA. They'll get theirs one day.
