In case Qualcomm does not find a buyer for data-center processor unit, how many employees total will be out of a job?
Any chance they will be given a chance to transfer somewhere else within the company, or is it more likely it will be a clean cut?
Frankly, this whole thing makes me really uneasy.
QDT will be dragged out into at least the next quarter. There are plenty of layoffs for GD to report on this quarter. He will need more 'progress' on 'savings' to report later in the year.
entire qdt is going down..something like ~1300 i think..server is really a long shot and had to pull the plug for more alignment of q business..
from reliable sources - arm is not interested anymore to pursue the server arch as many vendors are pulling out..so no buyers..and only one company got some taste of success with arm servers...

India & China is hiring CWF left, right and center in most groups, roll overs and yes direct hire is on hold. But Most of our work is moved to India & China..I was doing some talking, found out that the engineers are paid petty by contractors who in turn are close friends of Senior management. Nepotism, corruption and sub standard people.. Qualcomm to turn around, fire these corrupt
Think about it. Data center is view as a super long shot at this point.
So sell it or shut it. Why ? Need to make savings and people are the expensive part.
So people go/leave/laid off = savings achieved.
