Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Subcontactor here

Its not just the employees who are feeling the heat from Altice/Suddenlink, the subcontractors are feeling it too! We are getting our paid codes taken away, they are asking for more and more techs to cover the techs that they are firing and we can't provide the man power. Their answer? Keep adding the work and refuse to pay us. My company in particular hasn't been paid in at least 6 months, and yet they expect us to keep working for no pay. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for my job and my heart goes out to all those who have lost one. But we are fearful everyday we are gonna come in and see that our contract is gone and the whole company is out of business. (Altice has been threatening this) It sounds like they want just one or two main contracting companies to run the whole thing but no one has that kind of man power at this point.

I didn't say it was my company, I work for the subcontracted company. I worked in the billing portion for a long time before I moved over to dispatch full time. I am not trolling anyone here and if the the workers of Altice are wanting to go union (as most posts/comments are saying) then more power to them! I just wanted to share with everyone that its bad for the contractors to. Contractors are always getting s--t on, because we are coming in from the outside to do the work. I understand not everyone will get along with contractors, but don't think we aren't getting hit hard to. We haven't lost the contract yet, but a new was supposedly 'agreed to' (according to the owner of the company) but we haven't seen it. We keep here things like "that's not how we do stuff anymore because of the new contract" but we have yet to see it. So we are all on the edge of our seats waiting for the call to say we don't actually have a contract and all 50 of us are out of a job. I'm not all trying to take away with what is happening within the company overall, just keep in mind contractors are hurting too.

I quit a few months ago and found a new job making more money. Money aside, I also get treated like a person. I am very happy. There is life after Altice. I wish I had gotten out sooner.

If these companies do a little homework on Altice I wouldn’t give them a minute of credit these guys are d---beats plain and simple, If you are contractor owner and your counting on Altice to support it then you are very ignorant and you deserve to lose your business this is a classic ponzi Madoff style they leverage everything keep telling the vendors the check is in the mail etc etc.

Reread my post. Your rite. Nothing is free. But If contracts were honored no one would be working for free. Your obviously are just trying to troll people, or don’t fully appreciate a contract being a legally binding agreement. The latter being ironic because every other post on this site is in support of a union, to get a contract. But if you don’t support contracted labor, how do you expect your contract to be worth any thing more than the paper it’s written on? So yes, if your a corporate troll, you sir are a d--k. If you are by chance just ignorant about the situation, take some time to get a better perspective than what’s just rite in front of your face.

Guys, this company thought a new box will save the company and bring work for everyone but thats not the case. These people are desperate and using whatever leverage they have left to keep this place running by cheating people out of their money. I suggest that if you dont have a back up plan then you better get one soon.

Thanks for posting

Hey @T3zsMom-1oqz, that’s pretty tough talk, and it only shows what a d--k you are. How about this for a scenario. Altice pays on the contract they agreed to. The contractor performs the job they agreed to. Every one conducts business as professionals instead of trying to scum-bag each other. No wonder all our shops want to go union. You can’t trust a word these snake say.

Who is not getting paid, you as a tech. or your company? If you are getting paid even if your company is not getting paid for six months then it's your company's problem not yours. Your company should have stop sending manpower when they not get paid on the first month.

The problem is simple, money. These mega conglomerates know they will save alot of money subbing out the work. The problem is that when you zone in on money, you loose focus on what really matters. The customer, employee and the product

Without customers enjoying the service and techs making an effort to provide quality service, you have a recipe for failure.

I personally observed the entire culture at DTV change when Mike White took over.Customers,employees,experience.The culture in cable is so old and outdated. The pay is nothing what it used to be.The hours and expectations versus return are the furthest theyve ever been.Every merger every buyout,we fall further from our goal.So keep on pushing the people you rely on,keep serving up the same boxs youve had for 12 years, and keep not adressing the maintenance issues Altice, youve a bright future ahead.

We are a service company, the owner of the company just keeps telling us to wait and wait but nothing is coming of it. Hopefully something will come soon, hours are being cut and people are getting ready to abandon ship.

If they don’t have to pay they won’t pay if you keep doing it for free they will keep taking the freebies. This is why contractor salaries are low businesses need to stop letting these clowns get over sad day and this is not being done here all these companies use the same fake analytical game oplan if it works they will imitate.
