Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Latest firings made the WSJ

This is the sentence that stood out for me:

"Regulatory records show a spike in terminations at Fidelity in the past year."

Everybody can see what's going on here. Fidelity is trying to have layoffs without having to pay for severance, and they will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

Ha! Had to laugh, severance policy, Fidelity doesn’t believe in written polices. You would think a big firm like them does, but no, they prefer to have all options available to the firm at all times. They do a great job of firing people and protecting the firm though, they do that very well. Think I’m joking, ask for a copy of their reimbursement policy for these programs in the news and in return you will get a few talking points that are updated on occasion.

Here's a novel idea.... don't steal from your company.

If Fidelity didn't want to pay severance, they would just change the severance policy. I've worked at several places that have done this, some just weeks before a company buyout. There is nothing that says a company has to pay a severance.
