Staples has been seeing some tough times, obviously on the retail end, but also in SBA. Each day I wake up and wonder if today’s the day sycamore decides to put a HR meeting on my calendar and lay me off. Does anybody else worry about this, and do you think it’s time to find a new job? This is my first job out of college, and I’ve been wondering if this is what a career in Sales is like, and what my future is going to look like living with this kind of career related stress.

If you are just out of college jump ship now. There is no where for you to go within Staples.
This is very normal in my opinion considering the circumstances. And, most of my colleagues feel the same way!
I don't worry about such things. The day that I start worrying is the day i will go look for another job more aggressively. I have an understanding and acceptance that a lay off is possible in most every job these days. I have been through one before after 15 years at another company. If it happens to me here, I have bounced back before and will again. But I am not naïve enough to believe it isn't possible at my next job as well. The way of this world I guess.
Reading this board may not be healthy for you. Some of what is posted here is the extreme reaction and trolling. If you worry about such things regularly, you won't feel better here and you will never know if what you read is truth as this board was ruined quite awhile ago.
Best of Luck
No, this is not normal... Staples is going through a rough patch. Many think it could be unrecoverable i.e a "sinking ship". Don't let this get you down, update your resume and start putting yourself out there. There are a million places that would love to have a good sales representative... in my opinion if you are not looking for a new job given the circumstances you may find yourself in trouble later on.
What area are you in?
