I don’t know what your talking about. Here in Oakland things are great. You over load us everyday with work and we shove it back down your throats at the end of the day. Things here couldn’t be better. I don’t regret voting in the union and neither do any of the other techs. Anyone tells you things here in Oakland are bad are full of crap.

"Making promises they can’t keep, selling dreams to the hopeless."

Love it when trolls make statements with the sole intent to deceive.

Can you give us a rundown to back up those ridiculous claims? Doubt it.

A union does not make promises nor do they sell dreams.

We the technicians are the union and we're legally represented by IBEW/CWA......go do some homework you disinfo clown.

The only thing your collective voices will do is agree to a dead end strike or accept the fact that all you lost is industry wide. Don’t like it? Change your career. Can’t do that? than pay these union charalatans your hard earned money for grievance procedures that in no way gauruntee you’ll remain employed. These guys like to talk garbage about how good Brooklyn and Oakland have it......yet Oakland has zero info on what contract they negotiated because they haven’t negotiated anything they are being ignored and will be dealt with at the same time Brooklyn’s contract expires and both will look like idiots.

These union guys are liars and no better than company trolls. Making promises they can’t keep, selling dreams to the hopeless.

Those who didn’t want to be included were the smart ones. They know union is powerless.

Good luck from a IBEW Local 827 member for the last 22 years .

The wages and benefits have been pulled down in the telecom Industry by you guys . There are now more non-union techs doing this type of work than union. By voting in the union (depot by depot) things will change for the better. WIth Lodi on board with Oakland things just got that much stronger for you guys..

You must look past the short-term goals and into the future. I will follow up with more info about 827 in the near future. Good luck

"You don’t have a clue. OSP did not want to be included. Construction techs did not want to be included. Not going to force something on them that they don’t want. Also plenty of people have been promoted from union to non union jobs."

I concur 100%

  • Altice management is getting very desperate and their propaganda will intensify.

  • next two weeks, they will continue to push false narratives like "why OSP not included." nonsense.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

June 26th, 2012, two days before Bronx election, Dolan came inside the warehouse and told everyone "don't be like Brooklyn", "don't get left behind", "if you vote union, you gonna miss out on wi-fi training".....

Immediately after Dolan left the building, Fat Barry organized a tech only meeting upstairs with the intention of persuading the field service techs to vote NO. Several OSP & Construction techs stood up in defense of Dolan saying things like "we don't need to do this", "we just got our raises", "why you wanna mess up a good thing"... etc

After that meeting, it was clear that OSP & Construction had been compromised and was no longer supporting the cause. We called up the union and had them removed from the voting unit. Unfortunately we still lost the election.

I'm speaking directly to Lodi. Do not let anything derail you from your mission right now. We all have been doing it management's way for decade and look at where we are right now. Time to change this up. Time to vote YES and have a collective voice when it comes to your employment.

God Speed

You don’t have a clue. OSP did not want to be included. Construction techs did not want to be included. Not going to force something on them that they don’t want. Also plenty of people have been promoted from union to non union jobs. Nice try though.

By excluding other depts, this tells me this union is more concerned about itself being voted in. I don’t see how this benefits the techs your trying to unionize at all. Your just raising the chances you’ll get your foot in the door by getting rid of depts that might ruin your chances. But in doing so you greatly diminished any power or ability for these techs to be promoted to higher positions. Along with zero bargaining power. But who cares right easier to be voted in than out. In the meantime you have some revenue from dues. You people disgust me. Not a sliver of empathetic action only opportunity.

Construction is a promotion. Might not get the grade level or raise you are looking for but it certainly is a step up from installing cable boxes and modems. You are treated like a human being in the department and you can gain a world of knowledge giving you something better for your resume than just cable technician. Splicing cable, and hanging strand looks better than installing altice one boxes. Just saying

Not sure what unionizing does in ATS because as stated below it is a contracting company. It will be interesting to see how they do if the union does get voted in. No one said USA has to use you as their workers, they just currently are choosing to.

So by voting in a service union you are giving up any chance to promote to OSP, construction or ISP. Because if you think you’ll go from union dept. to non union dept. your drinking more cool aid than us. Have fun pulling drops and changing boxes until you retire, or are replaced by different contractors because you will have no bargaining power. Good luck!

The stupid thing about this decision is that with such a small group possibly being unionized you have zero negotiating power. Just a grievance procedure.

Osp didn't want in so why include them when there votes would be no let them regret there decisions later.

Why no OSP or Construction or office personnel? I thought the union was supposed to be about organizing and unionizing for the greater good?

You guys have been preaching "sticking together". Oh, that's right...field service is all about themselves. "Who cares about anyone else as long as MY job is protected". Yep, soynds like the union mantra.
