CBS Corp. is on the verge of making a merger proposal to Viacom Inc., reports Bloomberg. CBS is expected to propose its CEO and chairman, Les Moonves, head the combined company. Holding company National Amusements Inc. has 80% of voting stock for both CBS and Viacom, which split into separately traded companies in 2006.

Hey..i was around the last merger ...there were multiple layoffs..
won't go into much detail ,
the news and analyst say that there will be "cost synergies"
from 500 million to 750 million.
you know what cost synergy mean...
either people or technology .or both
this time is CBS taking Viacom over , last time was Viacom taking CBS over ..
so expect the sh--, to roll down on Viacom .

Layoffs have already been slated for mid-May prior to the announcement, that hasn't changed. May 15th is the date I've heard the most.
