Not true. My development lab just shipped some samples to some key customers. While it was just a handful of samples that were painstakingly hand built, and though the write power-on hours is not expected to exceed 10 hours, I'm sure our customers will recognize greatness and place orders for many, many more samples, solidifying WD's future for years to come.

Yes, it's an exciting time to be a lab engineer.

According to the news releases, Seagate has already shipped more than 40,000 HAMR drives for customer testing.

How many MAMR's have shipped?
