I will never forget how I was treated when I received my layofffs notice. My managers smiled and laughed in my face for two whole months. It was like, I finally got you!. People in Piscataway were afraid to talk to me and isolated me. It was the worst feeling in the world. Now ... after a few weeks, this layoff was the best thing that could happen to me. I still have my moments...I am human, but Colgate didn't win. I did. Many of you facing layofffs here are some helpful tips
-
Get your resume out before they let you go.
-
Don't stay angry.. Colgate lost a great employee. It's their lost not yours.
-
Have as many people LinkedIn you and give your recommendations. It really helps when recruiters want to know more about you.
-
Take a deep breath... It's not the end of the world. You will get another job. You might even surprise yourself with what you land. Perhaps a title you would have never received if you remained at Colgate.
-
Live and enjoy life. I believe God is giving you another opportunity at living.
-
There is life after Colgate.
-
Don't look back and help another person along the way.
