Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

What is the union bringing to the table how will you supposedly save the day

Just exactly what are you going to do for us

I don't understand why everyone is so full of hate for what has gone on here over the past year or so. Just because you have a union doesn't mean a damn thing as I see it look what happened to spectrum. What can you bring to the table to prevent that.

Lots of misinformation here. Spectrum is a beast. They got busted using outside contractors so decided to take advantage of the altice situation and hire unhappy employees. On top of that nothing will change what the company wants. There's a reason they say pick your battles wisely. Ibew did not. A year later union members are now crossing the line coming back to work. But with stipulations. Number one they come back as new employees non union. The spots filled by Altice techs remain. So many union techs will be on a waiting list. Fact because I am with spectrum and this is exactly what's happening. Altice scans will be one of its many contractors if you should strike. They are not held by any agreement like spectrum was. And they will not bend at all to any union demands. If you didn't get with spectrum you lost out.

Well King lando you keep reading off the card the union gave you see what happens when they leave you dumb a-- with no job I hope you guys realize this union is more crooked the Mr Altice they just want your money. Lando ask your union buddy if you strike is the hole hall standing behind you and striking or just your Depot because that's how a union has strength the hole hall strikes not just a bunch of poor saps that took bad advise.

I guess this is what management's new anti-union jingle will be....

"you guys don't need a union, look at what happened to those techs at Spectrum, the union didn't do diddly squat and they all lost their jobs!"

"like we've been telling you all along, a direct relationship is always better for employees."

We all should really do some homework and stop relying on what we're told. (especially from management)

What's currently happening at Spectrum is much much more complicated that just saying "the union screwed its members"

Scabs are scabs but they’re not dumb enough to come here. They’re always looking for a better opportunity and that opportunity is not at Altice. So scabs crossing a strike line is something you don’t have to worry about here. Spectrum also gave the scabs $45 an hour and that will also never happen here. And the correct word is here not hear.

SmDCk5a-uol I’m gonna guess you failed comprehension in school. Said nothing bout optimum techs causing spectrum to strike. Please reread my statement a try to comprehend that spectrum techs were easily replaced by optimum scabs so spectrum had no reason to negotiate with the union.

And you saw how well that went for spectrum. They are all out of work you don't hear from them anymore pushing union.

Hilber and his management trolls will continue to push the narrative that a union is a bunch of gangsters in black masks with the sole purpose of taxing employees 2% everyday. This is not the case!

WE THE EMPLOYEES ARE THE UNION.

"Just exactly what are you going to do for us?"

  • give us the right to collectively bargain in good faith to improve the terms & conditions of our employment

  • No longer would we be considered "AT-WILL" employees (can only be fired for "just cause")

  • Weingarten Rights

  • legal representation when our labor rights are violated

  • prevent management from changing policy & procedure only when it suits them.

  • having a multi-year binding contract which in turn provides all of us with peace of mind not having to concern ourselves with what Altice will strip from us next.

"what do you mean by collectively bargaining the terms & conditions of employment?"

We sit down at the table to negotiate for:

  • better wages

  • better health benefits

  • how many Altice One installs they can assign us

  • career progression that is fair to everyone

  • every other aspect of our job (etc.)

So you're saying that the optimum guys had them strike and in the end they still have no resolution and that's piece of mind? I would not say so

What happened to spectrum was Altice. The greed of Altice made a lot of techs jump ship and become scabs. Spectrum techs were easily replaced by optimum techs which gave the union a lost battle. That would never happen Altice cause no1 is gonna jump ship from any other cable co to come here. What a union can give u is a piece of mind that at least this greedy company can not just do what they want with you as pleased and have to answer to someone before trying too.
