Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

2018 will be layoff free!

Too much paranoia in the tower given how Devon is struggling less and looking so much better than most of the competition.

If you are a low performer you still need to worry and if you are employed by what ever company will be bought by Devon this year don't expect an office when the dust clears.

I guess the paranoia was not just paranoia. Yeah for 2018. I want to see more paper on the walls.

Well stated Beprepared, my optimism got a reality check when I was laid off after 10 years with the same company. I loved the company and would have worked another 10 years if I could have.

Devon is a house of cards. Sandusky is driving this ship right off the cliff.

Maybe we can cut some of the $50 million a year of G&A by stop running adds during Oklahoma City Thunder Games.... the point of advertising would be for someone to buy a product. People that watch the game aren't buying oil or gas.

Every time I see an advertisement on how "commitment runs deep' I get so pissed because with that commitment running deep gobbly goop crap commercial the stock price is also running to the deep. When oil goes down stock price goes down. When oil goes up stock price also goes down. We s---.

Brianna, How is Devon going to cut G&A by $50 million a year without layoffs? Why do you think Devon is buying back stock and paying down debt if the plan is to buy another company this year? There currently are way, way too many employees for the amount of wells that Devon operates and the amount of drilling activity.

It is nice that you are optimistic about things but I think it might also be good to realistically assess the current situation and how it may or may not affect you.
