So has anyone volunteered?

I am considering volunteering on Monday (no email received in my division), but I am worried about how it would affect my job going forward if it is not approved. The email that folks in other division states such cases would not be viewed negatively, but I doubt it. What are your thoughts?

Sorry but rating has nothing to do with performance it is solely a reflection of your politics and political position.

talked with HR and manager but was told the chance to be selected is very low due to the critical 5G team I am in

What is the point for this voluntary package offerred? Many people really want to leave will get rejected

Have not. Will not. 19 years here. If I need to go, I'd like SM and CR to pay for it.

I'm going to bring it up with my manager. I'm in a group in QCT that didn't get the email but I assume that they will still consider it. I'm fortunately in a position to do this so might take some pressure off of folks who really need the job.

Or you are of retirement age and have been hoping for a severance package but are not a low performer and have been passed by in the previous layoffs. Hoping for a voluntary layoff and it appears to have arrived. +1

@vpg If you are a high performer that wants to leave but you have been getting ratings of >= 6, your chance of getting layoff is not that high. It is still possible, but realistically unless your project gets cut, there will be people ahead of you. So if you want to jump the line in securing the package, you volunteer now. I did just that.

Why would you? Same package either way.

There are some amazingly naive comments here.

Perhaps you are fairly certain you are unlikely to be involuntarily laid off; yet you see dead end opportunities and 1-2 years of serious stress and turmoil and you'd rather be outta here ?

Or perhaps you've been pretty much interviewing around already, feel you have 2 decent likely offers and so would love to take a much of $$$ from QCOM to leave.

Or perhaps your wife just got a great promotion which involves relocating to the Bay area. You can hang around a while, but you'll be off shortly so why not get paid some $$$$ from Q to go.

Or perhaps you recently got married and plan to take a year off traveling..........you've delayed quitting in the hope you'll get some extra $$$ from a layoff package

Just a few of the many possibilities..........some amazing short sighted, badly spelt and naive views on here.
