We’ve been told that union organizers may have been approaching ATS employees in Bronx about signing union authorization cards. We believe we have a responsibility to alert you to the obligations you would be assuming by signing a card and becoming a union member. These cards are binding legal documents that are enforceable during the life of a union’s organizing drive and no one knows how long this could be. By signing a card, you may be giving up your right to vote in a secret ballot election on whether or not a union should be between you and the Company. You should also be aware that unions will sometimes try to get employees to sign other types of documents, even a simple petition or an attendance sheet, and then use these documents to claim they represent a majority of employees. Be careful what you sign.

No matter what a union’s claims, the simple truth is there are no automatic improvements just because someone signs a union card. Before signing a card or any other document making a commitment to a union, you owe it to yourself to find out all the possible consequences and obligations of union membership. Unions have detailed rules and regulations that bind members and outline your obligations, including the consequences of failing to follow the union’s rules and the cost to you in dues, fees, assessments and possible fines.

More important, signing a union card or other union document could expose you to the risks of collective bargaining. Despite what a paid union organizer may say, negotiations do not always result in increases. During negotiations, all the wages and benefits you currently receive are discussed. There is no guarantee you’ll get more than you have now; in fact, you can end up with the same or less as a result of good faith negotiations. Also, as you no doubt have seen in the news, unions do call strikes; that would be a possibility if a union represented you at ATS.

Who cares about a contract? As long as there’s no contract, nothing can change which is fine with me. Nothing more can be taken and we just can’t get laid off. Plus we have someone that will fight for us. Can you say the same bout non union shops? I think not

Yeah I have no idea what Iam talking about but you have no idea what your doing. A contract has not been and will not be negotiated that’s not how this company works. The only thing they are negotiating is with their stock holders about how to circumvent your union and screw you like they did the city.

Thank all the scabs for the defeat of ibew at spectrum. Without them things would’ve turned out different.

Divide and conquer. When they contract all field service for cheaper rates and bid wars by contracting companies. I will probably end working for one. Thinking dam I should have or could have saved my job and my health benefits. It's doesn't make sense for a new company that's cheap to keep workers. They only care about profits and investors. Look at what has happened already and what's going to happen when customer facing agreement expires.

You for 1 have no clue what your talking about. The fact is Brooklyn has a contract and Oakland will too when they are ready. I respect your opinion but please do not mislead.

"unions do call strikes; that would be a possibility if a union represented you at ATS."

Not trying to be a jerk but I feel this entire line is not a threat but a warning about what you can expect this time around if union succeeds. I've seen this email on five previous union attempts, but I've never seen it end like this one did. I feel strongly union will not save us thanks to spectrum crushing ibew. Not to mention PD has less morals or empathy than every CEO in any cable company.

I've seen Brooklyn and Oakland stagnate without a contract years after the vote. When that old contract is up it will be a bloodbath. I for one will vote no if you come to the bronx. Dont tell me if all depots unite we have a chance. Spectrum has over 1800 strikers it did nothing, now only a few hundred stubbornly remain.

I agree that you should do your research before making decisions. This email is incredibly misleading however.

questions for Bronx

you voted NO last year..... you feel you made a mistake? NO

aren't you tired of being disrespected? I'm not being disrespected

who's willing to step up? NOBODY. PLEASE MOVE ON TO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

are you prepared for more Hilber cool-aid? NO.

is it true that they just announced OV4B training for OSP techs? you're okay with that? Yes ,move like refresher. OSP techs started out as f/s techs before becoming osp techs. OV4B should be a cakewalk to them.
