Unemployment - when should you file ?

For all the lucky ones that got laid off . When should we start applying for benefits ? Any advice ?

I was laid off a while back. It will save you time and the headaches of UE if you wait until your Devon severance runs out. Otherwise you have to check in bi weekly and keep logs (in Texas).

You can receive your unemployment at the same time you are receiving severance. Or you can wait and receive it after your severance runs out. Your choice.

WRONG! File on the first day your separation is effective. It takes a few weeks to start receiving benefits and you will be able to claim unemployment and receive a check for each week you don’t receive severence. For weeks you do receive severence, you simply won’t receive an unemployment check.

Immediately. A severance is not payroll. It is release payment so you do not file a lawsuit. Just file and answer the questions on the unemployment website. Devon will tell you otherwise if you ask HR but they will pay if you file because they have to.

You have to wait until you're off Dvn payroll if you want to be honest about it.

I do not believe you can begin receiving your unemployment until after the final devon paycheck. Best of luck
