The only good move Devon ever made was acquiring Mitchell Energy for the Barnett Shale. Also management... Mitchell discovered horizontal shale drilling and its success in the Barnett, Devon did not, so stop telling people that Devon discovered it. Devon only knows how to screw up other good assets by applying the Barnett methodology to EVERYTHING. So dumb...

Having worked for Mitchell Energy for over 18 yrs, with over 3,000 wells in the Boonsville and NEBS already, transferring to OKC with Devon and having to hear how Devon "discovered" horizontal drilling has been a royal pain in a certain region I would rather not mention. Ever since Larry Nichols stepped down from Devon it has been a totally useless place to work. Decisions made on how much of a kick back the SVP or VP is going to get, so how many of you truly love SAP. IT under AM, oh, excuse me, have they renamed themselves in the last two years?, creating their own projects, nothing that the business needs or wants, but who cares! Let's spend $2 mil for a program that won't work in the field, oh wow, didn't even check with in house field support or, DUH, the field offices to see if it would work. Oh well, just another mistake, that's all. I wasn't happy to be laid off in 2016, but I've discovered that it was the absolutely best thing that could have happened. My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. Stay strong and follow your own path, not Devon's. I do know it is hard.
How old does it get hearing management start every sentence with, "In the Barnett..."
