GE's BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor ... nuclear to be cost-competitive again?

Looks like the engineers in Wilmington are innovating even while the nuclear industry is struggling. BWRX-300 sounds pretty exciting and makes the competition look expensive.

You read my mind. Thanks. Desperate attempt by Management in new unit project to save their own jobs by floating new ideas to corporate leadership.

Looks good on paper ....but where's the Customer ? The remaining New Power Plants team at GE Hitachi looks like a joke after big layoffs .....all GEH can do is sell dreams ....but can't sell/build a new power plant.

Pie in the sky. SBR, then ESBWR and now this. A product is good if there are customers. Unless there is a catastrophic power shortage, no new nuclear power plants will be built in this country for long long time. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Designing it to be passively cooled makes it much safer than the Fukushima era design ever was. I'm in gas turbines and I wish we had a product like this to give us hope for the future.

Yes exciting news for everybody who wants to put a tiny Fukushima right next to the neighborhood pool where your kids swim.

There can not be a better way to say I love you and help the neighborhood glow in the dark and then die of cancer.

Nuclear needs to find a viable place in the mix and the good people of GE-Hitachi are very capable of taking the lead in this exciting project. Exciting news.
