Why doesn’t the oil&gas industry have a union that represents the workers? I’m younger so I’m not aware if this was attempted at some point before my time.

So, right to work simply means if you go to work in a union shop , you have a right not join the union.
Hired at will means the employer can let you go at will, without Any Reason. Of course they can always let you go "with cause". Poor performance, failed drug test, etc. They cannot let you go for an illegal cause, such as your age, race, gender, whistle blower for safety issue, or retaliation for reporting s-xual harassment, hostile work environment.
I a m not anti-union. However, I don't know Texas or Oklahoma laws well enough to say if they can or cannot let you go for attempting to organize a union.
I'm guessing O&G has always paid well enough to keep workers from getting pissed enough to let unions catch on.
Look up the NLRA

unions do not help the workers they only help the Union Leaders. Talk to someone who has worked for the Union when they get laid off and go on strike, they don't get paid. Look at the car makers in Alabama they get paid well and have great benefits they moved there to get away from the Union mentality
Oklahoma is a Right to Work state. Companies don’t need a reason to terminate employment. Small businesses don’t either, nor churches. The last time any O&G companies that had Oklahoma offices that had union connections was when the majors were here in the 80’s. The office workers got the same negotiated benefits as the unioned field crew. Devon has, in the past, stated they won’t tolerate union shop talk. Go for it and see what happens. Devon doesn’t owe anyone anything outside of law, and they’ve always done better than the majority.
Typical lefty referring to people as stupid, likes unions, and anti-trump. Always have to condescend to people that have a far more realistic view of the world.
You need to do more research on why unions exist in the first place. Just remember, you're probably we'll compensated for your job and you have the best benefits a company can offer.
It’s comments like yours that are stupid. Unions help people retain jobs you tard. Why wouldn’t everyone be on board? Also look at your rights to work. Your employer cannot discourage your right to talk about forming unions. It’s people like you who automatically dismiss progress that absolutely kill me. You prob voted for this loser in the White House too. And I work in the glass tower. What else?
Good idea! Not sure where you work, but talk up the organized labor thing amongst your co-workers. See how that goes. Read up on "right to work states" first.
